What are we looking for?
This role combines commercial and technical expertise, ensuring customers receive the right water treatment products, optimized performance, and measurable value. To actively manage existing accounts, develop new business opportunities, and perform technical fieldwork including jar/floc tests, site audits, and troubleshooting.
What do we expect from the candidate?
Responsible for driving sales and providing technical support for water treatment solutions in the domestic and Africa mining sector and interfacing with Solevo colleagues in Africa to achieve sales growth
The key responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at mining operations (plant managers, metallurgists, process engineers, and procurement teams).
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with Solevo Colleagues in Africa.
- Promote and sell water treatment chemicals for mining applications, including flocculants, coagulants, scale and corrosion inhibitors, dust suppression products, and other process-related chemistries.
- Identify new business opportunities and support growth through technical demonstrations, trials, and proposals.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and quotations that demonstrate technical and commercial value.
- Achieve assigned sales targets and contribute to regional business growth.
Technical Support & Service
- Conduct on-site floc/jar tests and laboratory evaluations to determine optimal product selection and dosage.
- Perform regular site service visits to monitor system performance, adjust treatment programs, and troubleshoot operational issues and/or develop this capability in local staff members.
- Assist in commissioning new treatment programs and provide training to customer staff on product handling and application.
- Collect and analyze water and process samples, interpret test results, and recommend improvements.
- Prepare detailed technical reports documenting trials, monitoring data, and performance outcomes.
If you possess…
Must-Have:
- Degree/Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Water/Environmental Science, or related field. Alternatively, at least 20 years specific water treatment experience in the Mining Sector.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in water treatment, mining, or related process industries.
- Strong technical knowledge of water treatment chemistries, flocculants, and separation technologies used in mining.
- Proven sales experience in technical products (preferably chemicals or process solutions).
- Practical experience conducting floc/jar tests, chemical dosing, and plant trials.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence technical and commercial decision-makers.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to remote mining sites.
- Medically Fit for access onto Mining sites and Underground where applicable.
