About the Role:
As the Sales & Operations Manager, you will be the driving force behind our day-to-day business success. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire sales cycle: from lead generation to post-trip follow-up, while also ensuring our internal processes are streamlined and efficient. This is a role that will fit a go-getter extremely well, where growth and success is rewarded accordingly.
Directly assisting the Managing Director, you will be involved with the building and maintaining of supplier relationships, assisting with contracting and rates.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership & Management:

- Conduct regular one-on-one and team training sessions to improve sales techniques, product knowledge, and customer service.
- Actively assist the team in achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Identify new products and markets to expand our sales reach and offerings.
- Handle a personal portfolio of custom travel package sales, particularly for high-value or complex clients.
Operations & Process Improvement:
- Monitor and improve day-to-day operational workflows to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Identify and implement new sales processes, tools, and initiatives to boost performance.
- Assist with the research, development, and building of new and innovative travel packages.
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, including tour operators, airlines, and hotels / lodges.
- Oversee customer service processes to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
Reporting & Strategy:
- Provide regular reports and insights to the Managing Director and other stakeholders on sales performance, operational efficiency, and market trends.
- Contribute to the overall business strategy and growth initiatives.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Your success in this role will be measured by a combination of sales and operational metrics, including:
- Monthly Sales Targets:
The overall gross value of all sales generated by the team. This will be measured against an overall monthly sales target for the company. - Team Performance Metrics:
The percentage of sales consultants meeting or exceeding their individual targets. - Operational Efficiency:
Measurable improvements in key processes, such as the time to create and send a new quote or the reduction in administrative errors.
Ideal Experience and Skills:
Experience:
- 3-5 years of proven experience in a DMC, travel agency or tour operator environment is non-negotiable. We need a candidate who understands the industry's nuances and has a track record of success.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Southern Africa (incl South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia) as well as Eastern Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda) as tourist destinations.
- Demonstrable experience in a leadership role, with a history of mentoring or managing a team.
- A proven background in sales, with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.

- Inbound and Outbound Contacts: Handle inbound calls and written communication from travel agents who are interested in Club Med holidays, addressing their questions, concerns and special requests. Make outbound calls to follow up on enquiries, promote special offers, support modification and strengthen relationship with travel agents.
