Compensation: $95,000 - $130,000 / year

As a Transportation Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?- Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
- Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects
- Coordinate and work with a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects
- Lead a project team consisting of engineers, designers, and field personnel involved in the design, modification, analysis, and constructability of water systems
- Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders
- Coordinate with office management and other project managers to share resources
- Assist in proposal preparation including oral presentations. Also prepare the scope, schedule, and budget for new projects
- Interface with clients including state and local agencies
- Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction-related issues
- Prepare, review, and/or approve proposals, contracts, or cost estimates
- Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants, and clients
- Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
- Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
- Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
- Take ownership of projects from start to finish
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
- 5+ years experience with plan preparation procedures and standards
- 5+ years experience in Transportation
- Professional Civil Engineering certification (P.E.)
- Knowledge and experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering
- Excellent written and oral communication skills Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices
- Possess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
- A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client's overall project goal

- Undertake and deliver high quality transportation impact assessments for any land-use development type for project in South Africa, and in Africa to relevant local or lender standards.
- Assist with transport planning projects for road authorities, government and developers under principal review.
- Proven experience, including but not limited to:
- Transportation Impact Assessments for any type of land-use development
- Assessment and conceptual design of non-motorised transport infrastructure
- Assessment and conceptual design of public transport infrastructure
- Working knowledge of Transportation planning for small to medium scale land-use or transport upgrade projects
- Experience in the design of traffic signal layouts and traffic signal timing plans
- Plan and organize traffic and transport field investigations for analysis, including providing interpretation of traffic data in a collaborative team environment.
- Prepare practical technically competent reports, documents and proposals under principal review.
- Contribute in the implementation of corporate HSSE programs across our office teams.
- Communicate with potential clients undertaking business development in the property, energy, logistics, transport and mining sectors

- A completedBEng/BSc/BTech in Civil Engineering
- 5 to 10 years relevant experience
- Must be registered as Candidate Engineer with ECSA, and nearing professional registration.
- Proven track record in utilizing traffic and transport planning software:
- Proficient in SIDRA intersection and network analysis.
- Working knowledge of interpreting and assisting with EMME and VISSIM modelling.
- Driver’s licence

Duties & ResponsibilitiesYou will:
- Provide support and involved with all marketing, business development and management of this specific area of Bridges and Transportation Structures for the business unit.

Skills
- At least 10 years’ experience in the field.
- Post graduate experience of at least 5-10 years in the design of large Bridges, Freeway interchanges and related transportation structures.
- Has independently designed bridges and independently assumed a bridge engineer’s role.
- Familiar with Bridge Design Standards of SANRAL and Local Government Departments.
- Sound knowledge of both Structural Steel and Reinforced Concrete Bridge Design.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, MS Projects, AutoCAD, CADS RC, Revit, Prokon, Midas and other relevant design software.
- Extensive experience in the use of NEC, FIDIC, JBCC and GCC contracts advantageous.
