Job Description
As an Engineer in our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering Team, you will be responsible for undertaking specialised analysis and developing traffic / transportation designs on a diverse array of infrastructure projects. These projects will encompass major roads, public transport systems, non-motorized transport, railway corridors, ports and harbours, as well as urban developments across Africa and beyond. The successful candidate will be based in Cape Town, Durban, or Centurion, South Africa.
Technical Excellence
- Contributes to the development of technical proposals.
- Develops design by gathering, correlating and analysing engineering data using computer software and established procedures and standards.
- When possible, collects and analyses information from discipline and interdisciplinary project models.
- Fully develops the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure the production of high-quality outputs by following project timelines.
- Participates in the interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, specifications, sketches, diagrams, specific discipline models, drawings, reports and tender documents.
- Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes an approach to solving new problems encountered.
- Performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
- Coordinates with other Engineers as applicable for the design process's continuity.
- Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities, ensuring the quality of production for accuracy to design instructions. Coordinates with authorities for scheme approvals.
Client Relationship Management
- Begins to participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc.
- Participates in the development and preparation of bids and proposals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master of Science or Engineering from an accredited University.
- 4+ Years' experience within the built environment after obtainment of Qualification
- Master of Science or Engineering advantageous.
- Registered as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA.
- Proven experience in transportation planning studies, traffic analysis and modelling, as well as the design of transportation and traffic infrastructure.
- Familiarity with transport modelling software (e.g., PTV, SIDRA, Synchro) and GIS applications is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret data and effectively present findings.
- Capacity to deliver high quality work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
