Purpose of the Jo b: To supervise and/or enforce compliance with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, by the Financial Institutions regulated by the FSCA. The persons appointed to this position will report to the Manager: AML/CFT Supervision Department. The Business Analyst is responsible for providing data and analysis as well as to assist the Commercial Development Manager in projects with an aim to improve the commercial performance of Coloplast South Africa (SA) and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The Business Analyst will act as a support to the different business segments executing commercial processes, projects and initiatives to maximize business impact in South Africa (SA) and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).

Main responsibilities are top line business performance analysis and insights generation in our commercial processes with report development, ad-hoc analytics and special projects being central to the role.

You will report to the Commercial Development Manager.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Frequently follows, analyses, and effectively communicates commercial performance against a set target with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Identify business trends by utilizing data and draw insights that can be used to strengthen the strategy and processes.
  • Manage data sources, both internal and external, and ensure data integrity to allow insight reporting to facilitate managerial decision making.
  • Assist Com-Ex Manager in all critical business planning and reporting, including developing business intelligence reporting.
  • Coordinate with sales team for ad hoc market information (S&T, Competition, territory sizing, etc).
  • Participates in key strategic projects to improve our commercial performance such as Pricing excellence, Business cases, tools and software, tenders.
  • Own and manage daily CRM (salesforce.com) related activities.
  • Collaborates with all other business stakeholders to analyse overall performance.

Qualifications:

  • CA(SA)/CIMA or other relevant Finance Degree.
  • 0-2 years Post Articles experience.
  • 1-2 years business partnering or management consulting experience advantageous.
  • Previous Pharma or Medtech industry experience advantageous.
  • Excellent numerical skills with an analytical approach to Marketing and the ability to construct fact-based recommendations and business cases.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial understanding.
  • Strong collaboration skills across functions and cultures.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) – ideally combined with one more language.
  • Highly effective communication and presentation skills in addition to the ability to engage with different cultures in the SA & SSA region.
  • Proficient computer skills (a must) including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Power Bi, Tabular Data Modelling, SQL and Python advantageous.

  • Honors’ degree (or equivalent) in relevant discipline.
  • Previous professional experience of risk analysis on the region and familiarity with business-focused research.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Portuguese, French, or other languages spoken in the region is a plus, but is not essential.
  • Network of professional contacts in Southern Africa (public and private sector, policy and academia, journalism, government, etc.)

Writing analysis Provide regular and high-quality coverage of relevant developments affecting the business environment in Southern Africa for clients subscribing to Seerist, Control Risks' online subscription service. This will include writing updates on trends and developments across the region in domestic politics, government policy, regulation, operational and security issues. Work closely with other analysts covering Southern Africa. This will include challenging and accepting feedback on own analysis, and ensuring coherence with other analysts. Collaborate with colleagues in other geographical regions on analysis of crosscutting pan-African or global issues and trends where required (geopolitics, climate change, sustainability, technology, etc.). Consulting and client engagement : Deliver political and business risk consulting work on Southern African countries as required. Lead conversations with clients on their requirements for analysis of political, regulatory and operational risks in the region. Scope and write proposals for bespoke consulting engagements on the region. Contribute to the development of compelling client deliverables and propose innovative ways to present facts and analysis to clients. Support and contribute to the delivery of consulting engagements for the wider Africa region as required. Marketing and business development Contribute to company-wide promotional publications, press releases and sales initiatives. Contribute to regional marketing initiatives including thought leadership (articles, blogposts, podcasts, etc.), and represent Control Risks as a country expert at conferences when required. Respond to media queries on the region as required under the direction of more senior members of the Africa analysis team. RequirementsEssential: Professional experience in consulting, political and security risk analysis, emerging market analysis, market intelligence, public policy, academia, or government, with a primary focus on Southern Africa (including but not limited to South Africa). Proven ability to write and verbally communicate with authority and clarity. Honors' degree (or equivalent) in relevant discipline. Previous professional experience of risk analysis on the region and familiarity with business-focused research. Preferred: Knowledge of Portuguese, French, or other languages spoken in the region is a plus, but is not essential. Network of professional contacts in Southern Africa (public and private sector, policy and academia, journalism, government, etc.) Experience conducting business development, proven track record of winning work (or funding), managing projects, and developing/maintaining client relationships. Track record of relevant publications, participation in conferences and events, or providing expert comment to media Competencies (Essential: Ability to write clearly, concisely and authoritatively to tight deadlines. Ability to independently identify, research and interpret significant events and developments. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.     What will you do?
