POSITION INFO:

A globally renowned company that designs and manufactures high-speed packaging and bottling equipment is seeking a Field Sales Representative to join their South African team based in Lanseria, Johannesburg . The company services clients across the Sub-Saharan Africa region with a focus on engineering excellence and strong after-sales support in the beverage industry.

Purpose of the Role:

To actively identify, pursue, and convert sales opportunities, supporting strategic growth targets by promoting a comprehensive portfolio of equipment, services, and solutions to customers in the beverage and packaging sector. This is a customer-facing, target-driven role requiring strong technical and industry knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the achievement of overall sales targets as a core member of the regional sales team.
• Promote a full range of product offerings, including:
• New machinery and bottling equipment
• Spare parts and consumables
• Retrofit and rebuild programs
• IT-based solutions and upgrades
• Overhaul services and SLA agreements
• Identify, follow up, and develop leads for new and existing clients, building strong pipelines and growth strategies.
• Manage the full sales cycle from customer inquiries, technical discussions, pricing, and quotations through to final delivery and post-sale support.
• Collaborate with internal departments and product specialists to deliver tailored, value-adding solutions.
• Maintain and update CRM systems for forecasting, reporting, and opportunity tracking.
• Travel to client sites across Southern Africa to conduct product presentations, build relationships, and participate in project meetings and strategic planning sessions.
• Coordinate client communication across departments to ensure high levels of service, issue resolution, and customer satisfaction.
• Support ad-hoc and strategic projects requiring customer interfacing and sales coordination.
  

• National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Marketing, or Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred)
• At least 5 years of technical experience in the beverage packaging industry
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in technical sales
• Strong communication, negotiation, and project coordination skills
• Proficiency in SAP, CRM systems, and MS Office
• Must be willing and able to travel regionally and internationally as required

A well-established minerals processing equipment engineering company requires the above to lead and manage the customer support function to ensure excellent service delivery, strong client relationships, and sustainable growth in the aftermarket segment.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• A national diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or related field is essential for this role.
• Previous experience having worked within a customer support, technical service, or aftermarket role within the mining or heavy equipment industry is preferred.
• Strong understanding of crushing, sorting, and materials processing equipment is essential.
• Proven experience in managing teams and dealing with customers in technical environments.
• Must have good computer skills with a high level of capability in Excel, Access, Power BI an advantage.
  
  

• Leading and managing the customer support function to ensure excellent service delivery, strong client relationships, and sustainable growth in the aftermarket segment.
• Maintaining strong relationships with existing customers, including the installed equipment base, to ensure long-term client retention and satisfaction.
• Monitoring and reporting on competitor activity at key customer sites, delivering strategic insights that inform market positioning and tactical responses.
• Negotiating and securing spare parts and service contracts that are commercially sustainable, competitive, and aligned with pricing and margin targets.
• Managing price escalations and adjustments for spares and services, ensuring open and transparent communication with customers to maintain trust.
• Logging, tracking, and resolving customer complaints, ensuring prompt feedback loops and issue closure.
• Organising and facilitating technical meetings with customers to resolve technical queries, improve performance, and strengthen relationships.
• Tracking and reporting equipment installed at customer sites, ensuring lifecycle visibility and service planning.
• Educating customers through technical briefings, on-site training, and product demonstrations to enhance product knowledge and user competency.
• Identifying and communicating new sales opportunities across spare parts, service solutions, upgrades, and new equipment, working closely with engineering, technical, and commercial teams to meet customer needs and drive revenue growth.
• Overseeing and managing spare parts demand forecasts in coordination with the customer support internal sales manager to ensure accuracy and responsiveness to both planned and unexpected equipment servicing needs.
• Aligning forecasting activities with new capital equipment installations to ensure adequate support stock availability and timely service.
• Fostering cross-functional collaboration with Capital Equipment Sales (CES), engineering, and product support teams to ensure an integrated customer experience.

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

As General Engineering Supervisor Drills & Support Equipment you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Safe and healthy work environment

• Ensure a safe and healthy work environment in which workers and contractors can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
• Keep environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Active participation in VFLs, Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

• Build, manage, and maintain healthy relations with stakeholders to assist in achieving sectional goals.
• Liaise with stakeholders to provide relevant and specialised technical support and input for operations and projects.
• Ensure that all relevant information is communicated to the supervisor accurately and in a timely manner.

People Management

Engineering & Maintenance Management

• Maintain equipment, machines, processes, and tools to ensure maximum availability and quality standards.
• Plan, implement, and manage maintenance schedules while considering production targets to ensure minimal interruption.
• Identify improvement opportunities, implement them where feasible, and maintain the new performance standards.
• Ensure that all system and administrative requirements are met.
• Hand over work orders to Artisan/Operators according to the Operating Model procedure.
• Ensure that the Operating Model procedures are followed.

Implementing the Operating Model Daily Tasks:

• Provide a report on daily schedule progress.
• Report on outstanding risks and urgent work from previous days and performance.
• Review daily output, schedule, and task compliance.
• Communicate all management instructions to the team.
• Ensure that all outstanding safety and plant deviations have been addressed.
• Generate and sign off on any Routine Operating Schedule changes when required.
• Approve or cancel all SAP notifications within 24 hours.
• Monitor daily schedule compliance and address deviations promptly.
• Communicate daily with subordinates about scheduled tasks and resource availability.
• Ensure that completed work orders are returned to the Work Management Planner for closure or rescheduling/cancellation of operations.
• Escalate and Address Risks to the Schedule per the Operating Model procedure.
• Hold personnel accountable for following the Operating Model procedures.
• Give feedback on execution performance and provide coaching and development to personnel.

Weekly Tasks:

• Address compliance, reconciliation, and deviations in the weekly schedule.
• Sign off on work orders and return them to planners for closure.
• Hand over work orders to the supervisor using the operating model procedure.
• Review the draft weekly schedule.
• Attend the formal weekly schedule review meeting to finalise the execution schedule.
• Forward all risks and deviations to the risk owner and sign off on them.
• Monitor work order cost control in task status reports.
• Review work order planning and input.
• Ensure that the section safety strategy is attached to all work orders.

Monthly Tasks:

• Ensure Pre-Planning is completed within the Operating Model Procedure.
• Ensure all safety, health-related incidents, and outstanding actions are addressed in pre-planning.
• Ensure all services, quality, environment, and safety instructions are documented in the preplanning.
• Ensure all managerial instructions are documented in the pre-planning.
• Contractors Meeting (FLM to have a meeting with contractors working in his section),
• Support standards committee procedures and standards revision.

Review:

• Review previous KPI (Safety Inc. & Acc, output compliance, services compliance, schedule compliance).
• Review Routine Operating Schedule compliance.
• Review the month-end cost expenditure.
• Review high-risk tasks and actions.
• Review Maintenance Strategy.
• Compare monthly measured and scheduled compliance and pinpoint necessary actions to enhance the quality.
• Budget Management and Cost Control
• Compile own budget and manage the section's expenditure within the approved budget to ensure effective cost control and savings.
• Manage overtime within required limits and achieve savings in this regard.

This role is in the Engineering - ENG at a Band 6 level reporting to the Section Engineer Drills & Support and Contractor Equipment.

• Grade 12 / N3 Technical
• National Engineering Diploma
• SA Drivers License

Experience

• 5 years of relevant operational experience in engineering maintenance.
• Technical expertise in HME/Opencast/Plant or Processing within the mining industry.
• Experience in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing engineering/plant/maintenance operations.
• Knowledge of engineering processes and best practices
