Are you looking for an opportunity to work in Ghana? We are looking for a qualified Speech Therapist to assess, diagnose, and provide therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), focusing on improving communication skills, language development, and social interaction, in alignment with best practices and culturally appropriate methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments for children diagnosed with or suspected of having autism.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans (IEPs) tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Use evidence-based techniques (e.g., PECS, AAC, social stories, DIR/Floortime, and ABA-related communication strategies).
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Educators, and Caregivers.
  • Train and support parents, Caregivers, and Teachers on strategies to support communication in home and school environments.
  • Monitor and document therapy progress, adjusting goals and methods as necessary.
  • Provide training and workshops on autism and communication strategies to local staff or community organizations.
  • Participate in outreach programs to raise awareness of autism and speech therapy services in under-served communities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy / Communication Sciences and Disorders.
  • Certification or license to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children with autism or other developmental delays.
  • Experience working in multicultural or resource-limited settings is highly desirable.
  • Valid passport or in the process of getting one.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and the related communication challenges.
