Role purpose

The requirement exists for a solutions and technical project manager to be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the activities of a number of technical projects within the technology function. Technical projects include application upgrades, infrastructure build and delivery, as well as identification and management of enhancement or innovation opportunities to introduce solutions based on Technology or Industry trends.

Key RESPONSIBILITIES, includes BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO

• Initiation of projects, work breakdown structure and project planning
• Identification and allocation of resources required for the project
• Project scope definition, planning and execution management
• Project Resource management
• Scope management, issue management, risk management
• Management of the project plan and progress to plan
• Communication & reporting of projects to stakeholders, business users and all related parties
• To ensure that the relevant project documentation is produced in accordance with the prescribed quality
• Ensuring implementation of best proactive for projects across FSO
• To ensure that the project produces the required deliverables, to the required standard of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Project manager

You as an Associate Inspection & Testing Engineer will be part of Hitachi Energy High Voltage business based in Modderfontein, South Africa. You will be part of Power Grids automation reporting to the production and test manager. You will be conducting functional testing of protection and control schemes to ensure cost-effective execution of project deliverables according to customer’s specifications, associates test engineer will ensure all schemes are delivered with Hitachi Energy quality standards, within schedule, and adhere to safety requirements during factory functional testing and factory acceptance testing (FAT) phases.

How you’ll make an impact

• Supporting Test Engineers with product and system testing, preparing standard test procedures and completing test documentation, adhering to safety standards while performing duties and performing factory acceptance testing with customers.
• Following work plans and cost estimates for work in one’s area of responsibility and ensuring quality and timely implementation within targeted cost.
• Supporting risk assessments to assure safe systems of work and taking appropriate actions.
• Using standard processes and tools and will be required from time to time to assist commissioning engineers on site.
• You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

• A bachelor’s or national diploma degree in electrical or power engineering is required.
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in relative fields with at least 2+ years of functional testing protection, control, and substation automation systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills and must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with other stakeholders of the project.
• Demonstrable basic knowledge of power systems and substations, knowledge of protection relays, and testing tools like test universe are highly desirable.
• Grasps new or unfamiliar concepts quickly and can effectively deal with complexity.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.

Business Value and Quality Assurance (QA):

• Bachelor's Degree
• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology - Computer Science or Information Management

Minimum:

• 7+ years’ experience in QA testing (identifying test conditions, creating test plans and test cases / scripts from project documentation)
• Developing and maintaining end-to-end automated test frameworks from scratch (end-to-end test architecture and framework design )
• Solid understanding of modern web technologies and end-to-end testing across various technology stacks (modern web technology stack testing expertise )
• Complex problem-solving in end-to-end scenarios
• Stakeholder management and strategic influence

Ideal:

• 5+ years' experience in Managing / Leading / coordinating a technical team and/or the work of Testing roles throughout the various testing phases and activities (technical leadership and team management)
• 3+ years' Bank IT system exposure
• Testing microservices, APIs, and distributed systems architectures
• CI/CD pipeline integration with end-to-end test automation suites
• Cloud-based testing solutions and modern deployment practices
• Release management exposure

Minimum:
A detailed understanding of:

• The full IT project lifecycle (SDLC) and how the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) fits into it
• End-to-end testing methodologies and strategies across various technology stacks
• Git version control , branching strategies, and collaborativemodern development workflows
• Agile methodology and modern development practices
• Web application architecture, SPAs, PWAs, and microservices testing
