As part of our Product Enablement team, Technical Writers deliver high-quality product documentationfor our industry-leading partnership management platform. This role will support the entire organization by contributing to comprehensive knowledge bases for our Partnership Automation SaaS tool used by brands, partners, and agencies across the globe. You’ll also own and maintain developer-facing documentation, including API references, SDK guides, and technical integration content for our developer audience.

What You'll Do:

• Work directly with the Product Enablement team to gather an in-depth understanding of the technical and business aspects of our products and their various use cases.
• Audit existing content for out-of-date, inaccurate, or otherwise unnecessary documentation that may confuse customers or diminish their enablement experience.
• Interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and translate their knowledge into engaging, user-friendly help content for a wide audience or technical help content for a technical audience.
• Developing high-quality product help content across mediums — written, visual, graphic — including tutorials, how-to guides, explanations, and technical reference documents.
• Use customer feedback and documentation hub metrics to focus content development efforts.
• Increase the use of the help center and integrations portal and minimize the need for human response.
• Strategize with the Product Enablement team to ensure the quality, searchability, and accuracy of help content across multiple delivery points.

What You Have:

• You have in-depth knowledge of technical writing principles, industry standards, and specialized documentation practices.
• You expertly use advanced features of technical writing tools and can troubleshoot complex issues or customize tools to meet specific project needs.
• Your subject matter expertise has developed significantly, allowing you to create highly accurate, detailed, and user-centric documentation for all types of documentation.
• You apply your knowledge strategically to optimize documentation processes, improve content quality, and contribute to the success of more complex projects.
• You demonstrate strong skills in user-centered writing, integrating feedback, and mentoring juniors. Needs minimal editing.
• You effectively tackle complex documentation challenges by developing creative solutions, often involving cross-functional collaboration and deep technical understanding.
• You lead efforts to improve documentation processes and workflows, introducing new methods or tools that enhance efficiency and quality.
• You lead collaborative efforts within documentation projects, coordinating with multiple squads to ensure alignment and consistency in the final deliverables.
• You communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, facilitating mutual understanding and cooperation among diverse team members.
• You mentor junior writers in collaboration and communication techniques, helping them build stronger relationships within the team and with external stakeholders.
• With 5+ years of technical writing experience and proven project leadership, you have completed a bachelor’s degree in technical writing, communications, or a relevant technical field.

Your day at NTT DATA

The Technical Writer is a seasoned subject matter expert, responsible for writing medium to complex company documents such as instruction manuals, intermediate to end-user manuals, reference guides, operating procedure guides, white papers, and specialized product descriptions.

While based in South Africa, this is a Global Role working within the NTT Global Cloud Practice , supporting large global Cloud Advisory, Modernization and Managed Services client bids and engagements in North America and Europe , as well as local bids in Middle East & Africa .

This role is responsible for writing complex ideas in simple ways. This role is responsible for doing research, creating, writing and editing content.

Key responsibilities:

• Creates clear and concise material, taking care of editing and proofreading tasks.
• Updates and maintains a library of service catalogues and associated documents such as RACI's.
• Revises or rewrites existing technical documentation.
• Conducts research and gathers information and study target audiences.
• Tests whether users understand newly developed material.
• Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the subject is understood.
• Works closely with printers, illustrators, graphic designers, translators and other relevant professionals.
• Stays up to date with the latest trends and developments in the industry.
• Compiles information by order of usability.
• Organizes all documents into the database and make copies for data security.
• Performs any other related task as required.

Role Overview:

The purpose of this role is to develop and maintain clear, concise, and accurate product documentation that helps users understand and effectively use the product; as well as to ensure completeness of required product record-keeping. This includes release notes, user manuals, specific guides, tutorials, FAQs, and other instructional materials.

Location:

Hybrid Cape Town / Johannesburg

Qualifications and Experience:

Matric / National Senior Certificate (NSC) / GCSE / Equivalent

Technical writing certification or course

Minimum of 3-5 years experience in software development environment

Key Responsibilities:

Create and maintain product launch documentation.

Create and maintain user documentation that is complete, clear and user-centred.

Continuously improve documentation value through ongoing updates and innovation.

The documentation is intended to help users achieve a goal through the quick and efficient transfer of information.

Collaborate with development teams to gather information on software products and services

Respond to customer inquiries related to technical documentation

Continuous Learning: Since technology is constantly evolving, a Technical Writer is expected to stay updated with latest documentation trends and relevant technology related to documentation tools as well as to the products for which they are writing.

Critical Technical and Behavioural Skills Required:

Working knowledge of Hyper automation products (or an equivalent LCAP) at Developer level - this includes being comfortable with the software objects and applications within the Platform, hardware devices used with it, and other technical tools relevant to the product as they are added.

A background in software development is preferred.

Attention to Detail: Technical documentation requires accuracy and precision. Paying attention to details ensures that the information provided is correct and consistent.

Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyze complex technical information and distill it into clear, understandable content for users is essential. This includes understanding the product functionality and its implications for users.

Problem-Solving Skills: Technical writers often encounter challenges such as unclear information or complex concepts. Being able to research, analyze, and find solutions to these challenges is key.

Adaptability: Products and technologies evolve rapidly. Technical writers need to adapt to changes, new features, and updates quickly, while also adjusting their documentation accordingly.

Collaboration and Teamwork: The Technical Writer works closely with subject matter experts, developers, designers, and other stakeholders. Strong collaboration skills help in gathering information, validating content, and ensuring documentation meets the needs of all stakeholders.

Time Management and Prioritization: Managing multiple projects and deadlines is common for technical writers. Effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks ensure that documentation projects are completed on schedule.

Empathy and User Advocacy: Understanding the perspective of the end-users and advocating for their needs in the documentation is important. Empathy helps in creating documentation that is user- friendly and addresses common user challenges.

Clear Communication: Beyond writing skills, clear verbal communication is important for discussing requirements, gathering information, and collaborating with team members.

As part of our Product Enablement team, Technical Writers deliver high-quality product documentationfor our industry-leading partnership management platform. This role will support the entire organization by contributing to comprehensive knowledge bases for our Partnership Automation Saa S tool used by brands, partners, and agencies across the globe. You’ll also own and maintain developer-facing documentation, including API references, SDK guides, and technical integration content for our developer audience. What You'll Do: Work directly with the Product Enablement team to gather an in-depth understanding of the technical and business aspects of our products and their various use cases. Audit existing content for out-of-date, inaccurate, or otherwise unnecessary documentation that may confuse customers or diminish their enablement experience. Interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and translate their knowledge into engaging, user-friendly help content for a wide audience or technical help content for a technical audience. Developing high-quality product help content across mediums — written, visual, graphic — including tutorials, how-to guides, explanations, and technical reference documents. Use customer feedback and documentation hub metrics to focus content development efforts. Increase the use of the help center and integrations portal and minimize the need for human response. Strategize with the Product Enablement team to ensure the quality, searchability, and accuracy of help content across multiple delivery points. About This Role

Deel is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join the Knowledge Team to build out our documentation and developer guides for API and Strategic Integrations.

Are you a word nerd who loves to explain complex concepts in simple language? Can you spot ambiguities and logical inconsistencies from a mile away? Do you get a kick out of style guides, and know when to follow the rules, and when to break them? If so, this role might be for you.

The Knowledge Team manages and scales information and expertise about Deel products and services across the organization for internal and external audiences.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with other writers and subject matter experts from our API and Strategic Integrations team to craft content that supports this critical business pillar at Deel.

What You’ll Do At Deel

• Work with subject matter experts to craft meaningful and accessible technical content for internal and external end-users
• Build and maintain and comprehensive product knowledge base to scale knowledge across the organization
• Design and build our Developer Hub and populate it with helpful guides to support API integrations
• Collaborate with your team to audit and maintain existing content to improve clarity and ensure accuracy
• Support the product and enablement functions to ensure the timely delivery of release notes, updates, and other product related technical information
• Work with the product team on in-app content to support users with information where and when they need it
• Share your expertise and insight on content strategies and best practices to support functional teams in drafting their own content
• Implement and iterate on technical style guidelines to ensure consistency of content
• Become an expert in all things Deel – from our products and services to policies and localized knowledge – to craft clear and concise content and scale this knowledge with our global audience
• Design and implement templates to shorten the distance from ideation to execution
• Make thoughtful and intentional choices about style, format, and language in order to improve clarity and understanding
• Use data to help make content decisions, identify gaps, and measure your impact

Some Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other technical field or a Bachelor’s degree in english, communications, or business with relevant experience in a technical field
• 2+ years experience as a technical writer
• Excellent written and verbal english communication skills
• The ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple language for diverse audiences
• Experience drafting technical documentation for technical reference content, guide content, code examples, and API client libraries
• Experience with Confluence/Jira, Zen Desk, Figma and/or other diagramming, wire-framing and collaborative tools
• Rigorous attention to detail
• A portfolio of work including API guides or developer documentation

• Written technical content for SaaS or Fintech companies
• Demonstrated experience building documentation for API and product integrations
• Worked at a hyper-growth start-up
• Worked with remote or distributed teams
• Created content for cross-cultural audiences whose first language may not be English

This role is ideal for someone with a scientific or engineering background who can translate technical and clinical information into clear, compliant documentation.

A tertiary qualification in a science, engineering or biological field essential.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience with medical device or pharmaceutical regulatory requirements would be beneficial (such as MDR 2017/745, FDA 510K, etc)
• Ability to write for a regulatory audience
• Proficiency in conducting research and report writing
• Basic knowledge of the human anatomy
• Strong attention to detail

Duties may include:

• Technical writing for medical device files
• Conducting research, literature reviews and writing of research reports
