PRIMARY POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing professional services on projects within the Roads & Highways Functional group, leading and executing Projects within the group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the general management of medium/large transportation infrastructure projects
- Responsible for the project management and coordination of multi-disciplinary project teams
- Look after budgets, resourcing and outsourcing of project work within the section, as well as agree project budgets with other sections on large projects comprising multi-disciplinary project teams
- Author competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality
- Check work of all those in the project team and take responsibility for their work
- Present / represent their technical work
- Supervise Engineers or Technicians in undertaking checks and inspections of constructed works for compliance with design and specifications, including monitoring and proposing remedial actions
- Development and/or improvement of function group specific design procedures
- Submission of tenders and proposals for function
- Win and deliver projects for the Function
- Draft successful responses to bids
- Clear knowledge of work procedures and ability to brief project team on them

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Engineering degree/higher degree in Engineering from accredited university
- Professional Registration with ECSA essential
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in transportation infrastructure with a strong background in geometric design
- In depth experience of Government standards, codes and documentation
- Specialist knowledge of Bentley MicroStation and Open Roads Design Software or similar
- Knowledge of web-based project cost control and financial systems (BST)
- Experience in design management and design delivery for projects and managing professional teams of medium/large projects, would be beneficial
- Knowledge of QA and OHS requirements on engineering projects
- Knowledge of the commercial aspects of project management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to conceptualise designs effective report writing
- Courteous and business orientated manners when communicating with stakeholders to foster and promote good working relations
- Co-operative and flexible work style to work in a team environment

The employee will be responsible for data analysis, continuous improvement, training and technical operational support for all customer installations as well as compressors and associated equipment.
Main Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement, Data Capturing and Analysis:
- Develop Continuous Improvement initiatives based on Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles for compressors, trailers, and other technical areas.
- Track and ensure the execution of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) outcome actions. · Ensure accurate data capturing.
- Develop effective data capturing methods.
- Analyse data for customer sites and provide improvement recommendations to the Operations team.
- Develop predictive models for live data parameters to enable the team to address deviations proactively.
Technical Support:
- Respond to technically challenging problem solving on customer sites. · Liaise with key compressor, gas engine, trailer and electrical suppliers
- Ensure up to date knowledge of P&ID’s for Motherstation from Technical perspective · Understand PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Support with the design, costing, installation and commissioning of the company’s projects
Research and Development:
- Investigate alternative equipment applications and propose improvements for Operations (cylinders, trailers, compressors, gas engines, etc.).
- Lead the sourcing of local equipment manufacturing project
- Develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) tools and implement for Operations.
Training:
- Provide regular training for Technicians and Operators on key technical issues related to the PRMS, compressors, trailers, Scada, etc., and keep accurate records.
- Develop methodologies for testing employees and identifying training gaps. · Review employee training matrix and keep records for each employee.
- Develop training plans for each technician and operator and ensure that training is carried out as planned.
- Develop training material for all equipment at the Motherstation and Daughter stations and continuously review it to include the latest developments.
SHEQ and Compliance:
- Review problem resolution to ensure that the “First Time Right” principle is adhered to.
- Review and approve project management gates for internal and external projects to ensure that they are carried out as per procedure and relevant standards.
- Manage and ensure adherence to the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Assist with contractor management and ensure that they follow procedures when executing projects.
- Provide final sign-off of projects to ensure that they adhere to standards and procedures. ·
- Assist Technical department with audits on technical issues.
- Comply with company regulations, policies and procedures and understand that safety is the number one priority.
- Monitor adherence of safety requirements before and after tasks are executed at the Motherstation and Daughter stations.
- Adopt a zero-tolerance approach when it comes to safety.
