Job Description

Technical Trainer (Mining Safety Systems) Preferably A&R Technical Group Head Office (Potchefstroom) About this role

Are you passionate about technical training and safety in mining? We’re looking for a Technical Trainer to join our fast-growing team! In this role, you will deliver impactful technical training on the installation, operation, and maintenance of A&R’s full range of safety systems, including Collision Avoidance (CAS), Pedestrian Detection (PDS), Missing Person Locators (MPL), Railbound Safety, and Lamproom Management Systems.

You’ll facilitate both theory and hands-on sessions, ensuring our clients and internal teams are fully equipped to apply these systems effectively in both underground and surface mining environments.

As a trainer, you’ll gain deep, cross-functional knowledge across all A&R systems—far beyond the scope of a technician focused on a single component. This is a role that sharpens your technical expertise while building your professional credibility as a qualified trainer.

All training takes place at our brand-new, fully equipped Training Centre, designed to simulate real-world mining environments and showcase every A&R system in operation.

We will also invest in your growth—successful candidates will be supported in obtaining official Assessor, Moderator, and Facilitator qualifications, making you a fully certified technical trainer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule technical training sessions across multiple systems and sites.
  • Deliver engaging training on installation, fault-finding, and maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct assessments and support the certification of trainees.
  • Ensure training content promotes safe work practices and system compliance.
  • Maintain accurate training records and submit progress reports.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical experts to refine training content.
Minimum Requirements
  • N3 Electrical (with Mathematics & Science) and minimum 2 years relevant technical experience.
  • Strong understanding of safety technologies used in mining (e.g., CAS, PDS, MPL, Railbound, Lamproom).
  • Experience in technical support or system installation within mining environments.
  • Confident presenter with strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Able to work independently, travel to various sites, and train under field conditions.
What We Offer
  • Exposure to all A&R safety systems—not just one.
  • A modern, fully equipped Training Centre for immersive and practical learning.
  • A pathway to become a certified Assessor, Moderator, and Facilitator—at our cost.
  • Opportunities for growth into senior training or technical leadership roles.
  • A collaborative environment focused on safety, innovation, and continuous learning.
Closing Date

30 August 2025

Applications not meeting all the requirements, as well as late applications, will not be considered.

Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only, who will undergo a panel interview with HR and the Technical Director. If you have not heard from us within 30 days after the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.

Successful candidates may be subjected to personal suitability checks (criminal record, employment, and qualification verifications). Candidates may also be required to undertake a skills test.
