Quantum Foods has a career opportunity at its Nova Feeds Factory in Paterson (Port Elizabeth) for Technical Advisor to join their dynamic team. This position will report directly to the Regional Sales Manager and will be servicing clients in the Eastern Cape area. This position will be primary responsible for the sales and servicing of clients.

• Achieve the sales budget and complete scheduled projects
• Work closely with the Ruminant Department to compile and implement support plan
• Visit and provide technical support to customers
• Monitor farm feed quality and advise on product application
• Administer sales documents and reports
• Report functional information
• Execute Marketing plan
• At least 2-4 years’ experience in similar position
• Efficient in the use of Microsoft office
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Highly motivated and a self-starter
• Valid driver’s licence
• Own reliable transport

The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for :

• Responsible for the achievement of pre-set sales targets
• Determine and assess product-need (Forecasting)
• Development of client base
• Source and develop new markets and new business opportunities
• Maintain company equipment hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices
• Resolves discrepancies and may communicate with a variety of administrative and professional employees within the company (Manager meetings, visits, support, functions)
• Maintain internal & external stakeholder relations
• Provide critical customer feedback to Senior management and Telesales
• Provide advice to clients on product offerings , application and after- sale service
• Provide a high level of sales support by ensuring all queries are responded to in an efficient, professional, and timely manner
• Using digital technologies to create new — or modify existing — business processes, culture, and customer experiences to meet changing business and market requirements

Key requirements :

• Relevant Technical Qualification
• 4+ years experience or expert knowledge of speciality products and their application
• Qualified SABI Irrigation designer, Civil / Mech Engineering diploma as well as an Agronomy qualification.

Technical Advisor (Poultry Farms, Hatcheries and Processing Plants)

Qualifications/Education:

Tertiary education: Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a major in Chemistry.

Computer: a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Laboratory Experience: Microbiology or Analytical Chemistry.

Language:

• Afrikaans and English.
• Conversational Zulu would be very helpful.
• Professional English writing skills.
• Communicate with a broad spectrum of individuals from Farm Staff to Senior Management.

Other:

• Self-motivated and disciplined.
• Minimum code 8 drivers license. Code 10 would be an advantage.
• Neat and well presented.

Duties:

• Audit the biosecurity, chemical application and chemical use on poultry farms, hatcheries and processing plants.
• Submit audit reports to the clients Senior Management and Manchem Head Office.
• Liaise between Manchem and the client.

Responsibilities:

• Visit farms, hatcheries and processing plants as per schedule to audit the biosecurity and clean out process.
• Ensure that the farms are correctly prepared for the clean out.
• Monitor and check the wash out and disinfection process.
• Monitor and check the chemical use and application.
• Tabulate chemical use per farm, hatchery and processing plant and report.
• Prepare detailed reports for each farm, hatchery and processing plant visited. These reports will be sent to our clients Senior Management.
• Monitor the hygiene scores from each farm, hatchery and processing plant and compile a database of hygiene results; Do spot checks by taking swabs and sending them to the laboratory at Head Office.
• Tabulate farm, hatchery and processing plant hygiene scores and send reports to Manchem Head Office.
• Manage stock and orders at the Cape Town Warehouse.
• Manage maintenance of vehicles and staff training at the warehouse.
• Solve problems in remote locations with limited support and equipment.

Note:

The farms are spread over a large area and will therefore require a fair amount of traveling.

The position is quite physical and requires good health and fitness.

Working hours:

8 hours a day. Working hours may be abnormal and the candidate is required to manage their own time according to the customers expectations.

15 working days leave per annum.

Other leave as per Basic Conditions of Employment.
