The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive accounting and taxation support by independently managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with statutory requirements. The incumbent will support the Tax Compliance Manager in tax-related matters and collaborate closely with the Finance team to ensure efficient financial management and decision-making across the organization
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE
- Maintain the general ledger, process journal entries, and perform monthly reconciliations.
- Prepare and review management accounts, financial schedules, and supporting reports.
- Assist the Tax Compliance Manager in preparing, reviewing, and submitting VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax returns in line with legislative requirements.
- Conduct tax reconciliations, ensure accurate records, and highlight areas of risk or discrepancy.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and financial schedules.
- Maintain proper filing of financial and tax records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Support statutory audit processes by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor queries.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP standards, company policies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with the Finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Assist with internal controls and process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide ad hoc financial and tax analysis to support business decisions and management reporting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field or equivalent qualification.
- Professional certification towards (SAIPA, CIBA, SAICA, CIMA, or equivalent) advantageous or in progress.
- 1–5 years’ relevant accounting and taxation experience with exposure to taxation.
- Proven experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and tax compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and strong MS Excel skills.
