POSITION INFO:
Duties:
- Lead monthly tax reporting, SOX submissions, and reconciliations.
- Review VAT, withholding, and gaming tax calculations to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
- Prepare and review corporate tax disclosures and quarterly tax schedules.
- Manage tax audit readiness and facilitate cross-functional tax training initiatives.
- Maintain and update tax matrices and ensure ongoing regional compliance.
- Liaise with tax regulators and internal senior leadership to ensure alignment and transparency.
- CA(SA) and/or Master’s in Taxation.
- Minimum 8 years tax experience, with at least 5 years in a commercial environment.
- Solid African tax compliance experience across multiple jurisdictions.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Group Specialist : Compliance and Reporting to join our tax team. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in tax compliance and reporting, a strong background in tax accounting and a proven track record of success within the tax department of multinational, listed entity.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the timely and accurate submissions of tax returns for all tax types across multiple jurisdictions.
- Lead the preparation of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for financial reporting purposes in accordance with IFRS.
- Manage the group’s Effective Tax Rate (ETR) process, ensuring alignment with the group’s financial and strategic objectives.
- Monitor ETR drivers, assess impacts of transactions, and implement strategies to optimize the group’s tax position.
- Provide detailed ETR analysis and insights for quarterly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting purposes.
- Partner with business units to ensure tax impacts of key transactions are accurately reflected in the ETR.
- Responsible for tax accounting and accurate reporting of tax related entries in the general ledger.
- Work with internal teams to enhance data accuracy and reporting efficiency across the group’s systems.
- Manage and support the transition of routine tax tasks to TESS.
- Act as the primary project manager for the external audit process to ensure a smooth and efficient process in collaboration with External Auditors, TESS Accounting, Group Tax Specialists and Group Tax Managers.
- Collaborate with external auditors on tax-related matters to ensure smooth audit processes and compliance with accounting and disclosure requirements.
- Manage and respond to internal audit queries in collaboration with Group Tax Managers
- Review Annual Financial Statement Tax Notes for companies identified by the Group Finance Consolidation team and work with that team to finalize the notes for inclusion in the annual financial statements.
- Identify any compliance risk which may need to be recorded on the IFRIC23 register, in collaboration with the Group Tax Manager’s and the Tax Advisory Team.
- Review VAT and CIT reconciliations performed by the Group Tax Specialists to ensure accuracy of tax balances in the ledger and financial statements.
- Work with Group Tax Specialists and Managers to minimise prior period adjustments by ensuring the accurate calculation of year end tax provisions and understanding the impact of any material differences between IFRS and local GAAP adjustments.
- On a monthly basis prepare a report on the Group’s tax compliance status which should incorporate analytics and insights on the compliance process
- Provide tax accounting training to the tax team and TESS accounting team as and when required.
- Assist with preparation of tax reports, dashboards and presentations required for various committees.
- Stay abreast of global tax law changes and ensure their timely implementation to mitigate compliance risks.
- Provide support to the tax technology team relating to the implementation / roll-out of tax technology solutions

Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in tax, with at least 5 years in a senior compliance and reporting role.
- Proven track record of managing compliance processes and overseeing group-level effective tax rate (ETR) reporting
- Strong technical expertise in tax accounting under IFRS (or equivalent accounting standards).
- Experience working in a Big Four tax advisory firm or equivalent is an advantage.

- Manage and review a portfolio of clients’ financials and tax obligations

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Tax & Accounting Team Leader would be responsible for various client matters and administrative details as well as supervision and training of Trainee Accountants.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesKEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Systems and Technology:
- DataGrows CRM is maintained with accuracy.
- Implement the latest technology to improve business practices.
- All employees are trained on systems and software throughout the business.
- Current systems are reviewed and improved.
- Employee Management:
- Ensure employees are aligned with the company goals through revision of all work attended to by Trainee Accountants.
- Confirm monthly that all the employee timesheets are updated and submitted correctly.
- Improve employees on their client relations and services.
- Ensure that all employees are trained and that their logbooks are updated.
- Improve and maintain a great company culture.
- Conduct feedback sessions and ensure employee wellbeing is looked after.
- Retaining Clients:
- Ensure client compliance relating to legislation.
- All retainer clients receive their Monthly Management Accounts.
- All client businesses receive a high value-added service from the company.
- Ensure minimal client complaints throughout the company.
- Business Operations:
- All accounting related tasks are completed from processing to AFS.
- Payroll tasks are attended to regularly.
- CIPC matters and other statutory functions are completed.
- PAYE, UIF, SDL and IRP5 Recon ( ) submissions are done within the set deadline.
- SARS E-filing (VAT, PAYE, Income tax).
- Attend to SARS matters and tax returns for individuals and companies.
- Manage company audits without any reviews.
- Ensure that all relevant processes and feedback are done on a regular basis.
- Align the focus of employees to the focus of the practice.
- Utilize and follow all other practice management tools with care.
- Degree: BCOM Accounting
- Completed SAIPA Articles

We are looking for a Senior Manager, E-invoicing & Digital Reporting, to lead our product into the future and to help us with our go-to-market efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for scoping and then building the tax technical content of our product as we expand country coverage. You will provide a vision and help our product teams to understand the future of digital reporting. This includes all digital reporting requirements governments impose worldwide where real-time, near-real-time, or even periodic exchange of information is mandated.

What you will do:
- Scope and build the tax technical content of our product as we expand country coverage.
- Provide a vision and help our product teams to understand the future of digital reporting. This includes all digital reporting requirements governments impose worldwide where real-time, near-real-time, or even periodic exchange of information is mandated.
- Bridge the knowledge gap between the Tax, Sales, and Marketing teams.
- Help us better deliver our value proposition and content to the tax community.
You will be a great fit if:
- You have 10+ years of experience in indirect tax, with a significant portion in digital reporting.
- Experience researching and implementing e-invoicing and digital reporting solutions either in-house or at a third-party provider.
- Ability to support the Product team with research and communicate technical tax issues clearly to non-tax team members (e.g., engineers, sales, and marketing).
- Comfortable presenting and discussing digital reporting with audiences of all sizes, from whiteboarding sessions with clients to presentations at industry events.
- Hands-on with team operations. While this is a senior leadership position, we expect all our team members to have an active, practical involvement in daily business operations.
- Be a clear, strategic, and inspiring communicator and expert in your field. We are looking for a cross-functional, merit-based leader.
- Ability to thrive in a startup environment where flexibility, adaptability, and positivity are key.
- Enjoy solving problems, turning complex challenges into simple solutions.
- Native or close to native proficiency in English; secondary languages are a plus.
