The EMEA / UK&I Tax Accountant will be a key member of Numerator International finance team, reporting to the Numerator International EMEA / UK&I Regional Controller in the Control & Accounting function, but with key collaborators in the Tax team - particularly the Numerator International Global Tax Director.

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local and regional tax regulations, handling relationships with local tax advisors, and collaborating closely with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

- Coordinate and handle the work of the outsourced tax compliance provider, including preparation of documentation for tax returns, statutory accounts, sales and use tax compliance, and other tax compliance matters.
- Be responsible for inputs into the tax compliance process from the remote controlling teams.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of tax liability and expense accounts, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Review billings, expenses and assets to guarantee detailed tax assessment.
- Maintain and update tax calendars to meticulously track all filing requirements.
- Be responsible for the completion of tax registrations, business licenses, and miscellaneous tax filings.
- Conduct comprehensive research on tax issues and stay updated on law changes, providing guidance to the team.
- Support internal and external audits, including ensuring timely clearance of auditor findings and management recommendations.
- Serve as a liaison between the tax department and other corporate accounting functions. Drive input to special projects as the need arises.
- Member of a professional accounting body, or equivalent professional qualification
- Proven experience in accounting and tax, with significant exposure to tax compliance and management.
- Good knowledge of local GAAP
- Understanding of US GAAP would be desirable
- Previous experience with Netsuite and OneStream would be desirable
- Strong technical knowledge and experience of practical application of regulatory requirements and tax principles
- Experience of working with an offshore transaction processing team
- Ability to collaborate and establish relationships across the business (at all levels)
- Attention to detail and an inquisitive nature
- Comfortable handling key relationships with external finance parties and service providers
- An ability to work simultaneously and effectively to progress several different tasks whilst to working to tight deadlines, including an ability to effectively prioritise

Job Title: Tax Accountant (Tax Practitioner)
L ocation : Johannesburg
Job specification
- Prepare / Review tax computations.
- Coordinate internally to ensure timely filing of quarterly and annual tax returns for all clients.
- Monitor status of client tax compliance by reviewing the tax reports and producing KPIs.
- Assist with regular internal training sessions/tax updates sessions.
- Provide technical support on tax matters to client service units based on established procedures.
- Assist in preparation of tax technical papers and new tax procedures.
- Review queries received for all clients centrally and provide guidance to client service units on required course of action.
- Liaise with clients in respect of SARS queries, and review/amend reply to letters and supporting documents.
- Liaise with SARS in respect of client tax matters and attend meetings with SARS officers on behalf of clients.
- Assist in drafting and submitting application for tax rulings.
- Conduct applied research on domestic and international tax issues.
- Review changes in tax laws, analyse implications and arrange for implementation of same.
- Any other duty that may be communicated to you by your Manager and Directors.
Skills Required :
- Recently qualified CA (SA) or a candidate with SAICA articles with audit training experience or a SAIPA candidate with an interest in international tax and research.
- A registered Tax Practitioner.
- Candidate must have had exposure to taxation during their articles training.
