Experience and qualifications required :

- A certificate or equivalent qualification (NQF 4-5) with 8+ years in similar roles.

Duties & Responsibilities- Administer and manage processes as part of a systems administration team and be responsible for selected processes in the data center.
- System administration skills required will create a balanced team combination with cross-functional skills and experience to support the following systems and components in the data center:
- SCCM
- SCOM
- VMWare
- Active Directory and DNS
- Back-ups and archiving
- Veritas
- Storage including a storage area network (SAN)
- Symantec antivirus
- Patch management (Ivanti)
- Server management (Microsoft Windows)
- Server hardware and software support.
- Provide support to provincial and municipal offices.
- Manage and monitor anti-virus products across the organization.
- Manage and monitor patch management across the organization.
- Resolve third level support problems.
- Maintain 99.999% uptime of data-center operations.
- Server maintenance and monitoring including knowledge of SCOM.
- Monitor and maintain the load balanced internet information servers (IIS).
- Responsible for the overall infrastructure architecture, including compliance with the company’s enterprise information architecture.
- Knowledge of security Firewalls.
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway (Forefront TMG), formerly known as Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA Server).
- Knowledge and experience in virtualization technologies, with special focus on VMware.
- Coordinate and support team members of systems administrators.
- Review change requests for completeness and analyze, prioritize, categorize, approve, and schedule change requests.
- Monitor the successful completion of all change requests, including change planning, building, testing, and implementation to ensure these processes follow the change schedule.
- Review and evaluate the change process.
- Manage and monitor data storage using storage area network (SAN) technologies.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Clustering services.
- Manage the VMWare environment.
- Schedule and perform maintenance of systems.
- Provisioning of data center infrastructure.
- Evaluate new technologies and prepare documentation.
Deep skills and experience in Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications with the following certifications:
- MCSE, MCSD, MCSA, etc.
- MCITP Enterprise Administrator (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) on Windows Server.
- VMWare Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP6-DCV).
- MCDBA will be an advantage.
It is further recommended that the candidate should have experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving technical issues, as well as deep skills and experience in designing and implementing IT solutions.
