ROLE PURPOSE

To support / steer Bodyshop Controls, Robotic and IT planning tasks.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE FUNCTION

• Responsible for electrical and controls project steering and support within the Bodyshop and associated areas and facilities.
• System specialist for production supporting IT-Systems
• (Concept Design, implementation, operation and breakdown management) in partnership with IT-Community, Plant Steering and internal and external partners.
• Coordination and steering of maintenance activities within the technology for all manufacturing automation equipment including Control Systems, IT, Robotics and Network Systems.
• Coordinates the introduction of new production-based IT-Systems and networks, develop and provide solutions and for existing IT systems in office and production.
• Ensure and enforce IT security for manufacturing systems within BIW.
• Second level (Level 2) support for major breakdowns and production support to prevent loss of units.
• Steer departments to implement electrical / safety standards from central TP 1/2/3 functions.
• Coaching / Training to Controls and Maintenance personnel in BIW.
• Support TX-R-33X to implement production improvement solutions.
• Specialists’ knowledge team for development the latest technological processes and share knowledge within the BMW Network.
• Ensure that all tasks are performed in accordance with the BMW specification and ISO standards.

Education

• Engineering Diploma Mechanical or Electrical, a Degree will be an advantage.

Work experience, Leadership experience

• Minimum 5 years related experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance, in an automated production Body Shop environment.

• Self-motivated person capable of working on an individual basis or as part of a team.
• Hour by hour prioritisation of own / team project activities and assisting with breakdowns, PM development and keeping the Control Engineering and Planning Manager fully informed.
• Should have a good level of PLC programming and high level systems (IPS-T,Q,L).

Role Purpose

To support and steer Bodyshop Controls, Robotic, and IT planning tasks.

Key Accountabilities

1. Manage electrical and controls project steering and support within the Bodyshop and related facilities.
2. Serve as the system specialist for production-supporting IT systems, including concept design, implementation, operation, and breakdown management in collaboration with IT, Plant Steering, and partners.
3. Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities for manufacturing automation equipment, including Control Systems, IT, Robotics, and Network Systems.

1. Analysis and Design

• Design, modify and improve information systems to optimize workflow.
• Map business rules and processes into a technical solution for the organization.
• Analyze and document current systems.
• Prepare charts and diagrams (system requirements / specifications) that constitute a representation of the new system in terms which managers and  non-data processing personnel can understand
• Prepare analysis which present cost versus benefit as a result of implementing the proposed new system/systems.
• Work with business owners to understand improvement requirements and identify problems of the current systems.
• Maintain currency with the application environment to ensure state of the art solutions.
• Assist with the development of configuration management plans.
• Assist in the development of test plans

2. System implementation

• Compile, in co-operation with the relevant main user(s) an implementation plan.
• Give help with programmatic data inputs, do the necessary compiling of code and data migration, where necessary.
• Offer the necessary support in respect of users' access to the respective system functions.
• Do the program transfers and exemption from program codes, as applicable.
• Do the necessary checks to confirm the successful implementation of the system. Arrange for and obtain confirmation from users about successful implementation by the users.
• Give inputs into the users' needs for system-related hardware, e.g. printers and the positioning of printers.
• Refer users to the Helpdesk for reporting problems relating to system infrastructure.
• Offer the necessary support to users in respect of the provision of accompanying information in order to expedite the resolving of system-related problems.

3. Research

• Researching and developing leading practices for the System Analysis function.
• Benchmarking and analysis of trends to optimize internal processes.

• Benchmark the company's System Analysis function with Local and International best practice and application at other Organizations.

4. Project management

• Identify strategic projects that need to be undertaken in the System Analysis function.
• Preparing project definition and detailed plans with the PMO.
• Driving and supporting the implementation of the specialized areas initiatives and strategic projects that address the needs and expectations of the company's stakeholders

5. Governance and Reporting

• Monitoring and reporting on progress against functional initiatives.
• Monitoring and reporting on compliance with legislation and the company policies, procedures and controls.
• Promoting sound institutional governance, participating in required governance structures and serving as a member on the required forums.
