Responsibilities

Construction Management:

Oversee and manage projects from commencement to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and quality standards.

Manage the commercial aspects of the project through sound processes in project programming, cash flow, cost control, time control, quality control (Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and compliance with the Construction Regulations at all times), purchasing, contract administration, and general site administration. Manage all subcontractors utilised on sites and for stakeholder management and interfacing with other contractors and the client. Lead site interface meeting with all SPEC Teams on site, and represent SPEC at weekly Progress Meetings with our clients. You will be responsible for daily and weekly reporting as per the client/project/SPEC requirements.

Compulsory: Registration in South African Council for the Project and Construction Management (SACPCMP).

Added advantage: ECSA registration.

Extensive leadership and client management experience.

Delivery of large-sized projects.

Project Management Qualifications Or Training Desirable.

Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 18001.

Levels of Authority: Manage staff.

Measurable Outputs

Completion of projects within time and budget.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Compilation, assessment, and clarification of job detail.

Growth of persons under this authority.

Reporting Mechanisms & Frequencies

Updated project program weekly.

Job Title: Construction Manager

Location: Burgersfort

Job Type: 6 month Contract, expected to work Full-Time hours

Job Duties

  • Oversee and manage all construction activities on the mining site
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Coordinate and schedule construction tasks and resources
  • Monitor progress and quality of work
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare and update project schedules and budgets
  • Resolve any issues or delays that may arise during construction
  • Communicate progress updates to senior management

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager in the mining industry
  • Excellent knowledge of construction processes and regulations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Experience

  • 10 years in construction management,
  • 5 years of experience in mining
  • Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects within the mining sector, including both open-pit and/or underground operations.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Thorough understanding of construction processes and regulations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Project management expertise
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
