The Supply Planning Manager will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end supply chain planning processes for our pharmaceutical products. This role will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless flow of materials and products to meet customer demand.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement supply chain processes to optimize inventory levels and minimize stock outs
- Lead a team of supply planners to ensure accurate demand forecasting and production scheduling
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and products
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
- Develop relationships with key suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure a reliable source of materials and products
- Manage product life cycles and make recommendations for product discontinuation or introduction
- Participate in strategic planning meetings to align supply chain operations with overall business objectives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain planning, preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced knowledge of Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

IntroductionWe are looking to recruit a permanent Demand and Supply Planning Manager to work for United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD). The role will be based at the UPD Lea Glen branch and will report to the Commercial Executive.
Job Purpose:
- To drive collaboration and alignment between customer trends and requirements with manufacturers’ supply plans in order to establish a consistent flow of the correct product range, mix availability and in fill to our core customer channels.
Key Performance Areas:
- To develop, implement & monitor operational plans to achieve department strategic objectives for our core customer channels.
- To build effective relationships with suppliers and core customers on new initiatives and other pertinent issues on stock holding, so as to respond appropriately to customer needs.
- To create a manifest that will guide and standardise supplier negotiations.
- To understand our core customer channel demand in all branches and have a product range to fulfil demand.
- To manage the product availability, infill and the overall margin in our core channels.
- Maintain a clean master data file by ensuring that products are categorized correctly in line with the MIMS
- To analyse the market, understand forthcoming customer initiatives, monitor industry trends, align forecasts to industry trends, analyse sales figures and forecast future sales volumes to maximize profits.
- To compile and produce reports to ensure visibility of the correct information, stock, margin, availability, infill in order to take corrective action
- Drive innovation by working closely with contact centre and regulatory department in implementing interventions that will enable demand fulfilment in core channels.
- To work closely with Operations in ensuring that nominated delivery dates are adhered to at all times
- To identify and maximise growth opportunities by engaging customers and suppliers alike.

Job Description
As the Materials Planning Manager , you will oversee material planning and inbound logistics to ensure timely and accurate delivery of parts that support continuous truck production. Manages supplier schedules, inventory levels, and inbound flows within planning parameters, while aligning closely with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams. This role plays a key part in translating demand forecasts into executable supply plans and maintaining supply chain responsiveness in a high-mix, low-volume OEM manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage robust material planning processes that align supplier deliveries with production requirements and business rules.
- Convert production schedules and demand forecasts into actionable material requirements and supplier schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and logistics flow to ensure on-time, in-house, in full (OTIF) part delivery to the plant.
- Maintain planning master data (e.g., lead times, safety stock, reorder points) to ensure ERP system accuracy and planning effectiveness.
- Coordinate closely with purchasing, production, engineering, and warehouse teams to synchronize part availability with build plans.
- Drive inventory optimization efforts while safeguarding production continuity, balancing working capital and service levels.
- Collaborate with suppliers to confirm schedules, mitigate delays, and respond to changes in demand or production.
- Support engineering changes and new model introductions through early planning, pre-build material readiness, and phase-in/phase-out strategies.
- Anticipate supply risks and drive resolution strategies including alternate sourcing, expedite planning, or buffer adjustments.
- Manage planning KPIs such as supplier on-time delivery, part availability, inventory coverage, and planning accuracy.
- Lead root cause analysis of material shortages and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for planning systems, supply chain visibility, and responsiveness.
- Prepare planning reports and participate in cross-functional reviews to communicate material readiness status.
- Ensure all planning and materials policies comply with company standards and operational governance frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
- Masters degree or APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) is advantageous.
- Minimum 57 years experience in materials planning or supply chain roles, preferably within an OEM, automotive, or heavy-duty vehicle manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent), with a strong understanding of planning parameters and master data.
- Experience managing supplier delivery schedules, inbound logistics coordination, and BOM-driven material planning.
- Knowledge of inventory control strategies and manufacturing supply chain best practices.
- Strong exposure to high-mix, low-volume or engineer-to-order production environments.
- Advanced Excel skills: experience with forecasting tools or planning dashboards is beneficial.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Must demonstrate the ability to manage complex supplier relationships and resolve delivery constraints in a fast-paced manufacturing context.
- Fluent in English, with exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, capable of engaging confidently across technical and executive audiences.
