We are seeking a talented and experienced Supply Chain Management Specialist to join a leading producer of high-quality iron ore products. They are dedicated to sustainable mining practices and contributing positively to local communities.

The Supply Chain Management Specialist will report directly to the SCM Manager. The SCM Specialist is responsible for the procurement of goods and services in line with business requirements, supply chain management policies, and procedures.

• BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying (preferred) or Supply Chain Management
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in supply chain management (5 years of which should be with construction projects procurement environment)
• Must have a valid driver’s license Code EB
• Good exposure to community-based projects (preferred)
• SACQSP registration

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To lead and establish appropriate Supply Chain Management (SCM) principles within the organisation by developing, implementing, enforcing and maintaining policies, standards and processes in line with legislation and the strategic objectives of the corporate plan of the Group.

Preferred Minimum Education and Experience

• 4 Year Degree in Supply Chain Management
• MCIPS diploma
• Experience within a state-owned entity Procurement environment - 10 years
• Experience 7 years head of procurement or 10 years experience Manager SCM.

Key Performance Areas

Contract Management

• Engage with senior management / Executive level relating to Supply Chain Management Contracts.
• Implement the agreement / contract deliverables in accordance with the agreed upon performance requirements
• Implement a contracts management system;
• Implement systems to ensure synergy amongst departments.
• Facilitate signatures
• Negotiation of Commercial Terms
• Monitor the agreement / contract deliverables to ensure compliance and to detect possible deviances in performance pro-actively
• Detect deviances and address appropriately with the relevant role players
• Agree on corrective actions and implement; or
• Amend agreements / contracts where necessary and give advice on most appropriate contractual decisions.
• Implement a Supplier Performance management system and monitor rectified performance against deviances to ensure compliance
• Document performance against the agreements / contracts for reporting purposes
• Compile the appropriate reports and to the relevant role players on all levels including executive level.

Procurement Contracts Drafting

• Draft / populate the relevant and applicable Procurement Services Agreements and liaise with the Legal Department for vetting to ensure quick and effective contract completion.
• Engage and liaise with the legal department regarding the negotiation of commercial terms with the Service Provider;
• Liaise with the Legal Department, Business Units and Supplier to finalise Contract / Commercial terms

Supplier Performance Management & Supplier Development

• Development a performance matrix for suppliers
• Implement a performance matrix for suppliers
• Measure supplier performance against matrix
• Monitor supplier performance against matrix
• Report on supplier performance
• Identify supplier development initiatives together with business
• Advise on initiatives in line with legislation
• Assist with engagement of supplier
• Assist with monitoring initiative
• Assist with documentation and reporting on initiative

Maintain Customer Relationships

• Identify the relevant role players in accordance with business requirements and dependencies
• Set-up meetings with the role players to discuss the roles and responsibilities and possible areas of cooperation, improvement and conflict
• Obtain mutual agreement on the resolution of issues, meetings required and the delivery of inter-dependent outputs and results
• Agree to the expected outcomes from each party

Documentation Management

• Oversee, Draft, Manage and Maintain all required reports and documentation in line with policy and procedures
• Establish a system that ensures that all documentation are easily accessible
• Ensure that all documentation is managed and maintained within allocated timeframes
• Ensure that documentation is complete and readily available for audit purposes

Ad Hoc Procurement Functions

Preferred Minimum Education and Experience

• 4 Year Legal Qualification (LLB) Degree or equivalent.

• 3years Experience in Contract Management

Our client is a supplier of steel and coal products for the mining industry. The client is looking for a Contracts Specialist (Supply Chain Management) with the following key criteria:

• A minimum of 3 years relevant supply chain or related; procurement, contract management experience. Adept in working with MS Office, various databases and contract management systems.
  Understanding of Enterprise Resources Planning and/or Cloud based procurement solutions (e.g. SAP MM, Coupa).

PURPOSE:

• To manage, coordinate and administer contracts with suppliers.
• To assist the Manager, Group Contracts and Procurement with improving contract coverage and achieving commercial savings.

Best Practice and Knowledge Management

• Identify and support the implementation of process and system enhancements to continuously improve contract management process.
• Study/research best practice processes and benchmark the Company processes at regular intervals.
• Assist in mitigating risk in terms of contractual exposure to the Company.

Business Partner Enablement

• Identify, evaluate and support business partners/end-users to develop disciplined sourcing execution capabilities.

Compliance, Governance and Assurance

• Ensure supplier stakeholders comply with relevant regulatory requirements.

Customer and Client Relationship Management

• Maintain a database of supplier information and continuously ensure that integrity and quality of data are relevant and of required standard.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and suppliers in the development of Service Level Agreements (SLA's) with suppliers.
• Support onboarding of new suppliers and manage supplier relationships.
