Job Description

This role supports the design and development of land-based defence systems , including armoured vehicles and advanced mechanical subsystems. The successful candidate will contribute to the creation of high-performance mechanical components that play a critical role in operational effectiveness and mission success.

This position offers hands-on experience with complex mechanical systems and is an excellent opportunity for a junior designer to grow within a high-tech, regulated engineering environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • 2D and 3D Technical Drawings: Generate detailed component and assembly drawings based on design specifications.
  • CAD Modelling: Use Autodesk Inventor to design, modify, and update mechanical parts and systems.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with performance requirements.
  • Drawing Revisions: Update and refine technical drawings based on feedback from engineers, testing teams, and manufacturing.
  • Documentation Management: Ensure all drawings and related documentation are up to date and version-controlled.
  • Manufacturing Support: Provide clear and production-ready technical drawings that meet manufacturing and quality standards, with knowledge of fabrication techniques (welding, machining, sheet metal work).
  • Compliance: Adhere to defence industry standards and applicable military specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Material & Tolerances: Specify materials, dimensions, and tolerances for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Team Support: Assist senior draughtsmen and design engineers throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Project Support: Contribute to project planning, tracking, and delivery, ensuring compliance with timelines, budgets, and technical objectives.


Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree and Matric average of 85%
  • Proficiency in CAD design (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems, especially within vehicle applications.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics accurately.
  • High attention to detail with strong technical drawing skills.
  • Problem-solving skills related to mechanical fit, manufacturability, and assembly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.


Experience and Background:

  • Technical knowledge and hands-on design experience.
  • Industry experience in armoured vehicle, defence, or heavy machinery design is advantageous .

About The Role

We’re looking for a recent graduate or final-year student who wants to go deep into AI and automation.   9. Establishes policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession for those functions/business units falling under his/her responsibility.
  10. Directs the development and establishment of adequate and equitable personnel policies throughout the organization, including compensation policies and employee benefit plans.
  11. Ensures that the interests and welfare of employees as individuals are preserved and protected.
GENERAL MANAGEMENT:
  1. Managing overall administration team for the full function of employee benefits (contributions, claims, exits etc).
  2. Applying the rules, policies and administration procedures of different funds in accordance with the Company standard service level agreements.
  3. Organizing and managing administrators' activities when attending to members so that responses are delivered in a professional manner according to the requirements.
  4. Ensuring that monthly productivity targets are met.
  5. Monitoring performance and productivity standards and identifying areas of improvement / Providing agents with feedback on productivity targets.
  6. Assisting in coaching, training and development of staff.
  7. Driving excellent service provision to contribute to the retention of clients which will result in attracting new business through proactive relationship management.
  8. Ensuring that responsible managers/team leaders are analyzing and investigating claims before the business can make a payment to the customer.
  9. Ensuring that company procedures are followed in the processing of claims and that benefits are paid to those who are eligible.
  10. Ensuring that payment of claims are on the basis of contractual agreements between the business and the client.
  11. Checking and ensuring that thorough investigations have been conducted for finalization.
  12. Building and managing relationships with internal departments and clients.
  13. Ensuring that set targets are met on a daily and monthly basis.
RECORD KEEPING AND FILING:
  1. Ensure all documentation relating to umbrella funds are saved in the member profile on the system.
  2. Ensure appropriate notes are recorded in the member profile on the system.
  3. Full fund administration system filing.
REPORTING:
  1. Prepare, analyse and present ad hoc reports as and when requested.
  2. Prepare, analyse and present an accurate report for Trustees meetings.
  3. Have the ability to report at Trustee meetings.
QUERY RESOLUTION:
  1. Attend to queries or inquiries by members within the required timelines.
  2. Provide assistance to employers or service providers, where necessary.
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
  1. Build and maintain positive relationships with all clients and service providers.
  2. Build and maintain supportive relationships with teams internally.
  3. Ensure that all communication sent internally and externally is dealt with professionally.
TIME MANAGEMENT:
  1. Meet production standards in terms of quantity and quality.
  2. Manage work outflow timeously.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  1. Relevant BCom, or Bachelor's Degree, MBA Preferable.
  2. 10 years' relevant experience in a similar position within the employee benefits/retirement fund administration industry.
  3. Must have experience with reporting at trustee meetings.
  4. Intermediate - Advanced MS Excel skills.
