Hire Resolve’s client in the Commercial and Industrial Solar PV Installation industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Solar Installation Supervisor in Pretoria.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the installation of Solar PV projects according to the provided design.
• Enforce applicable HR codes and company policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.
• Follow engineering drawings and install systems to specifications.
• Learn the company’s standards within the 3-month probation period.
• Understand the workflow and standards of project sites within 6 months.
• Be capable of running a full site within 12 months of starting with the company.
• Install AC and DC components, cable trays, and DB boards.
• Wire and configure DB boards as necessary.
• Complete post-project documentation, including DC quality checklists, in-progress and final photos, and labelling.
• Document installation progress, such as wire management, serial numbers, and site map.
• Fill out daily progress reports and make them available online for the Project Manager, including expense reports and living out allowance reports.
• Set the tone for the team, inspiring them to exceed goals and expectations.
• Develop a positive working dynamic within installation crews.
• Check on the progress of installers regularly to ensure the installation process is being performed as per engineering pack and construction timelines.
• Ensure that there are adequate materials and equipment to safely and efficiently complete projects.
• Maintain and inspect test equipment, including periodic calibration checks.
• Be responsible for all equipment issued by the company.
• Drive responsibly and be accountable for any fines issued to the allocated vehicle.
• Report roadworthiness and future dated services of the company vehicle issued to you.
• Maintain excellent lines of communication.
• Provide constructive feedback to management.
• Report accurately worked hours and stand down and communicate to the HR manager.
• Ensure accuracy of your own as well as your team’s timesheets.
• Maintain housekeeping at work locations, including the site, office, and company vehicle.

Requirements:

• Preferably a qualified electrician or 5 years in a similar role.
• Experience with AC installation.
• Proficient in DC installations.
• Able to install and wire cable trays and DB boards as needed.
• Ability to follow engineering drawings and install systems to specifications.
• Organisational and planning skills.
• Strong team leadership abilities.

Minimum requirements:

• 3 + years of previous solar installation experienced required (applicants with no solar and no extensive electrical experience will not be accepted and or reviewed)
• Experience with installing both roof and ground mount systems.
• Experience with micro and string inverters as well as setting up monitoring systems.
• AREP (Association for Renewable Energy Practitioners)/SAPVIA PV Green card Certification preferred.
• QCTO Red Seal Electrician Certification in the Republic of South Africa.

Responsibilities:

• As Lead Solar PV Installer your main purpose would be solar installations.
• You must be an electrically minded individual to work in the field installing residential and light commercial grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) systems.
• The Lead PV Installer will be responsible for installing and commissioning the photovoltaic system from beginning to end. In this position, the Lead PV Installer will report and coordinate with the Technical Support Manager, work side by side with other crew members and install all photovoltaic system components, to ensure the delivery of a fully functional photovoltaic system, with the highest level of safety, Quality, efficiency and conformance to SANS and the original design and specifications.
• Liaise with Technical Support Manager to review project plans and drawings and ensure that the project is build according to design.
• Work with crew members to complete projects within established time frame, policies and procedures.
• Assemble solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetration, and install all relative equipment.
• Set up solar monitoring system
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on safety, diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
• Communicate with customers in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all questions and concerns to the bets of your ability.
