We are currently looking for a Field Service Technician to join our team in Port Elizabeth . We’re an established company with over 60 years’ experience in the food processing & laundry equipment industry, constantly innovating to improve our local industries.

The successful individual will report to the Technical Director and will be responsible for the service maintenance, repairs, and installation of food processing equipment and industrial laundry equipment. In conjunction with the Service Co-ordinator, they will control the output, planning, and prioritising of workflow. The main purpose of the position is to drive service success that improves customer satisfaction, maximises customer retention, and increases profitability.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct on-site visits to clients to carry out fault finding and servicing of existing baking, freezing, and laundry equipment.
  • Conduct on-site visits to clients for the installation, setup, testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Administer time usage and the movement of stock, ensuring accurate accounting.
  • Provide client training on newly installed and existing equipment.
  • Assist clients telephonically at stipulated times.
  • Maintain medical fitness to perform duties.
  • Travel extensively within and outside the region and work beyond normal operating hours as required.
  • Render technical assistance and advice to other technicians.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the company.

The Service Technician is required to support all Technical Service Functions in the Eastern Cape and bordering provinces.   • Achieve sales targets through sales of spare parts, preventative maintenance contracts & assessment services.

  • Plan and execute all service backorders.

  • Adequate stock control management for planned repairs and services.
  • Complete warranty repairs and provide inspection reports to QRC.
  • Complete field actions as required by the quality team.
  • Maintain and follow up on warranty processes and procedures for all intended repairs.
  • Assist with service-related queries at hospitals and customer sites.
  • Assist with in-house service-related queries and requirements.
  • Service & repair equipment to meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain company vehicle in good condition.
  • Keep daily records on vehicle mileage and route planners.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards on all company products.
Qualification (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
  • Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification will be an advantage.
  • Aftersales knowledge, strong technical and mechanical mindset.
  • Basic computer literacy skills in MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license (Code 08/EB) and PDP would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently. Excellent time management skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Available to work outside of normal office hours, as per customer requirements. Ad hoc travel and visits to regional provinces.

Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable and technically skilled Field Technician to join our Service Department. This field-based role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of fire protection systems at our client sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weekly testing of fire pumps and installation of control valves (ICVs)
  • Responding to client call-outs for repairs and checks
