Duties & ResponsibilitiesKEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Systems and Technology:
- DataGrows CRM is maintained with accuracy.
- Implement the latest technology to improve business practices.
- All employees are trained on systems and software throughout the business.
- Current systems are reviewed and improved.
- Employee Management:
- Ensure employees are aligned with the company goals through revision of all work attended to by Trainee Accountants.
- Confirm monthly that all the employee timesheets are updated and submitted correctly.
- Improve employees on their client relations and services.
- Ensure that all employees are trained and that their logbooks are updated.
- Improve and maintain a great company culture.
- Conduct feedback sessions and ensure employee wellbeing is looked after.
- Retaining Clients:
- Ensure client compliance relating to legislation.
- All retainer clients receive their Monthly Management Accounts.
- All client businesses receive a high value-added service from the company.
- Ensure minimal client complaints throughout the company.
- Business Operations:
- All accounting related tasks are completed from processing to AFS.
- Payroll tasks are attended to regularly.
- CIPC matters and other statutory functions are completed.
- PAYE, UIF, SDL and IRP5 Recon ( ) submissions are done within the set deadline.
- SARS E-filing (VAT, PAYE, Income tax).
- Attend to SARS matters and tax returns for individuals and companies.
- Manage company audits without any reviews.
- Ensure that all relevant processes and feedback are done on a regular basis.
- Align the focus of employees to the focus of the practice.
- Utilize and follow all other practice management tools with care.

- Completed B Comm (Accounting) Honours plus Articles as a minimum.
- Taxation Diploma/qualification will be an added advantage.

Position Summary:
The CPA Tax Manager is a key leadership position within the firm, responsible for managing and reviewing complex tax engagements for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts. This role involves client relationship management, tax compliance and planning, staff supervision, and ensuring work is performed in accordance with professional standards and firm policies. The Tax Manager serves as a mentor and technical resource for junior staff and plays a vital role in identifying tax-saving strategies and risk mitigation opportunities for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and review the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and fiduciaries.
Provide strategic tax planning and consulting services to clients in various industries.
Conduct tax research and stay informed on current tax legislation to ensure compliance and maximize client benefits.
Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff and senior associates; provide regular performance feedback and coaching.
Manage multiple engagements and ensure client deadlines and budgets are met.
Communicate effectively with clients, partners, and team members on technical matters and engagement progress.
Identify and assist in the implementation of process improvements for tax workflow and client service delivery.

Qualifications:
CPA license required.

Strong technical knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including multi-state and federal taxation.
Proficiency in tax preparation and research software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, GoSystem, BNA, or similar).
Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a fast-paced environment.
