Position OverviewAs a Network Engineer, you will serve Advania’s clients by designing and implementing network configurations, and troubleshooting performance issues on devices like firewalls, routers, and switches.
Responsibilities- Assisting in scoping and design where required
- Creating, updating, maintaining, and reviewing network documentation
- Creating knowledge articles within Service Now
- Managing risk and downtime during maintenance windows
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve network and security tasks
- Taking ownership and performing effective incident investigation applying sound problem-solving methods to determine scope, urgency, and potential impact across a wide range of IT systems.
- Taking ownership of tasks allocated and professionally manage them through to resolution or escalation
- Experience of working in a 2nd line support level role or above
- Experience of configuring firewalls end-to-end (preferably Palo Alto, Meraki, Azure, Checkpoint, or Fortigate)
- Possess a good understanding of Routing, Including Static routing and dynamic routing (BGP and OSPF)
- Have a solid grasp of key ITSM processes, including Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management
- Ability to analyse and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
- Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure
- Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to co-workers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology
The budgeted salary for this role is between 35,000 and 45,000 ZAR per month , depending on experience.

About the Role
The Network Engineer will work closely with CISO to continually uplift and develop our network capability to ensure continual secure and uninterrupted communication within the organisation and with our fleet of Bluebottle USVs.
The ITServices team is responsible for the Ocius’s day-to-day IT support and network capability. The team are instrumental in ensuring the wider company can function, including ensuring our Bluebottle platforms can function effectively at sea
What You'll Do
Design modern LAN and WAN networks with integrated security.
Deploy and maintain networksusing Infrastructure as Code.
Maintain legacy network infrastructure at Ocius and client locations.
Provide end-to-end network engineering support, from planning and estimating through to post-deployment assistance.
Develop and refine technical documentation for network design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Attend and contribute to meetings with clients and stakeholders as required.
Maintain compliance with Ocius policies and best practices in all network-related work.
Selection Criteria
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (or related) or equivalent TAFE qualifications with experience.
Proven experience designing and implementing complex networks, ideally using infrastructure as code.
Experience working with virtual infrastructure (cloud or on-premise).
Experience working with remote sites or unreliableconnections, including 4G/5G, satellite and mesh radio systems.
Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation for existing and new networks.
Familiarity with network security best practice, ideally in a defence setting.

Main Functions Of The Job
The main functions of the role are, but are not limited to:

- Interaction with other providers and service providers;
- Interactive relationship with management;
- Maintenance of Security, IT and Environmental networks on all sites;
