ATNS is seeking candidates to deliver Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) training courses and research product offerings aligned with the ATA and broader ATNS deliverables to enable the most effective and efficient delivery of training solutions for internal and selected international clients within and outside the ATM community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Observe and study new instructional techniques for conducting classes and implement measures to improve training delivery.
  2. Conduct training content analysis (TCA) on training product offerings (as and when required) and provide the necessary training interventions.
  3. Conduct training needs analysis (TNA) on ATNS ATSEP, external ANSPs or CAAs and support staff (as and when required) and provide the necessary training proposals.
  4. Assist and coordinate the installation/implementation of engineering training systems at the ATA.
  5. Interpret performance, reliability, maintainability, availability and monitoring of ATM/CNS systems for statistical purposes.
  6. Design survey instruments to determine the validity, sufficiency and quality of product offerings.
  7. Research future ATM/CNS systems and provide solutions to enable the department to remain competitive in terms of being the preferred training provider.
  8. Compile comprehensive reports and implementation plans on research conducted in the external professional environment (formal and informal training, conferences, seminars etc.).
  9. Apply appropriate research methodologies for the research and analyse results/conclusions to formulate new concepts and ideas.
  10. Produce research papers that will benefit the aviation fraternity.
  11. Assessment of students is conducted in compliance with QMS procedures and curricula/syllabi.
  12. Ability to present selected core and elective courses outside the area of expertise (i.e. Communication/Navigation/Surveillance).
  13. Create and moderate assessment tools and workbooks for all ATSEP courses.
  14. Develop unit training course materials to meet the performance needs of the ATSEP and system support requirements.
  15. Moderate course material/s within the field of knowledge to determine validity, sufficiency, content and quality.
  16. Evaluate qualification program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  17. Provide support and guidance to ATNS Technology and Information related to On-the-job training instruction actions and checks to support Competency Based Training and Assessment.
  18. Provide mentorship to the engineering instructors and support personnel within the area of responsibility.
  19. Continuously engage Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) on future training systems and recommend the necessary training interventions to ATA management.
  20. Collaborate with tertiary institutions on the development of research-based training solutions that will enable a seamless transition of students from academic to work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. B-Tech /B. Eng. /BSc. Degree /Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Electrical /Electronic /Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Train the Trainer and OJTI qualification from an approved institution.

  • Strong background in steel structures, large-scale infrastructure, or solar mounting systems
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and integrate diverse technical functions
  • Deep understanding of structural design, contract management, fabrication, and construction
  • Highly experienced in project oversight, risk identification, quality assurance, and problem-solving
  • PR.Eng registration is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience in the renewable energy or solar sector preferred
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills

To facilitate the test effort's success by driving quality and test advocacy, resource planning and management, and resolution of issues that impede the test effort. To act as a trusted / expert advisor and specialist resource that provides leadership in all quality engineering related activities, including providing guidance on opportunities to improve quality, approach, strategy etc.

Coordinate all reporting requirements, including test status, defect monitoring and resolution, risks, metrics definition etc. across all quality engineering activities to ensure that the state of quality engineering is clearly communicated and documented.

Deliver the consolidated approach to quality engineering and provide input to the deliverable to drive compliance to required standards where applicable.

Drive alignment with the automation initiatives with the system team for the relevant portfolios and applications to ensure standardisation in accordance with the team objectives and strategies.

Drive the overall approach to quality engineering in consultation with other IT partners to drive alignment and respond appropriately to changes.

Ensure that defined velocity targets are achieved for each iteration or sprint; document and escalate any identified risks accordingly so that delivery expectations are clear to the team.

Ensure that quality engineering practices are aligned to strategic Build initiatives (i.e. Agile, CI, TDD etc.) so that modern engineering practices are continuously employed.

Ensure that team is participating actively on demo/pilot with business team so that business priority is understood and informs the adoption of the risk approach.

Ensure that test approaches are aligned to the IT Engineering standards and IT strategic objectives so that progress towards achieving test strategies is future-fit, and that risks are minimised.

Ensure that the necessary tools and environments are available for quality engineering activities so that test execution activities can progress seamlessly and efficiently.

Execute the quality engineering coordination and tracking on the progress of quality engineering activities to ensure risk to solution delivery is quantified and communicated to the delivery team.

To provide expert professional knowledge and technical skills within a specialist area, and to execute the bank's information security initiatives, enabling Management to make the appropriate decisions and monitoring the protection of sensitive data and systems.

In this role you will learn to:

  1. Adhere to and implement the relevant technology standards developed by the wider IT Function.
  2. Utilise the relevant technology requirements in order to drive the optimisation of work outputs.
  3. Continually review system operations, updating and amending processes and products to mitigate risks as identified and discovered to minimise future incidents.
  4. Prototype and pilot proposed information security solutions or capabilities to identify viability of new developments.
  5. Engage, consult and influence working groups and business areas to understand the required client process for complex problems that are not readily accessible and processes, that require the design, operation and integration of multiple systems, support the client by ensuring a unified outcome and advising on all related information security processes and products and plan accordingly.
  6. Consider various attack scenarios and identify appropriate controls, by working with architects and software engineers to specify how information security technologies should be implemented.
  7. Design, implement and operate proactive monitoring and maintenance support activities to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of services and underlying platforms to minimise information security incidents in accordance with the banks risk appetite.
  8. Participate in post incident analysis, identify control weaknesses and include remediations in planning and scoping activities, support junior team members in analysis, identification and remedial actions as required.
  9. Automate repeatable tasks, by building technical control capabilities and maturing their operational effectiveness.
  10. Develop detailed information security designs, incorporating multiple systems into a unified outcome, within strict deadlines and with complex client requirements, ensuring that designs are practical and align to architectural requirements.

To contribute specialist Business Process Engineering input into the development, maintenance and implementation of the Process Science Framework to enable the competitive advantage of the organisation and to be a key enabler in professionalising business operations across the Standard Bank Group by measuring and improving maturity and operational processes and skills to extract efficiencies with the client in mind.

In this role you will learn to:

  1. Conduct in-depth analysis to ensure that the organisations' products and services are executed through effective and efficient business processes.
  2. Contribute specialist Process Engineering input to the development and maintenance of the Process Science Framework - covering strategy, policies, processes, procedures, standards, guidelines, training, objectives, metrics and governance – to ensure consistency of implementation and the alignment and international best practices and standards.
  3. Contribute, by providing specialised Process Engineering input, to the setting of the CoE's (Process Excellence) technology plan and the Group IT plan. Provide domain expertise to develop the relevant technological requirements. Adhere to and implement the relevant technology standards developed by the IT Function.
  4. Deliver holistically on all the reporting requirements in order to enable transparency and effective decision making.
  5. Develop and get consensus on a process roadmap, which includes tactical, short, medium and long term process execution imperatives enabling the step change improvement in process performance year-on-year.
  6. Direct, design and deliver practical solutions using structured process improvement disciplines.
  7. Drive the execution, monitoring, tracking and reporting on end-to-end process performance in order to demonstrate value to the organisation.
  8. Identify and quantify opportunities and problem areas through the intelligent analysis of processes, organisational design and strategy in order to enable a competitive advantage for the organisation.
  9. Implement enterprise continuous improvement projects to deliver the agreed financial benefit within the timeframes stipulated.
  10. Participate in all relevant training for the requirements of the role, and any changes to the BPM framework, to ensure that all BPM activities are aligned accordingly.
  11. Promote process-thinking and action which includes creating an awareness of the importance of business process and process thinking within the organisation and building process teams through the development of appropriate knowledge, ability and attitudes of the process team members.
