Key Responsibilities :
- Develop project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate project activities, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Manage project budgets and timelines, tracking progress and making adjustments as necessary to ensure project milestones are met.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including clients, team members, vendors, and senior management, providing updates on project status, issues, and risks.
- Understanding of construction contracts (JBCC, FIDIC etc)
- Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective strategies to minimize their impact on project objectives.
- Ensure that projects comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards. (SANS standards etc)
- Lead project meetings, facilitating discussions and decision-making to keep projects on track.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to project team members, resolving technical issues and ensuring that engineering best practices are followed.
- Conduct project evaluations and lessons learned exercises to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure SHEQ protocols are adhered to at all times. Requirements :
- Mechanical qualification (degree or diploma).
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in Construction Project Management.
- Experience in industrial refrigeration will be a strong advantage.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting Iso and P&ID drawings.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Projects.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Design Engineering
- Analyse the technical information, including RFP and tenders, and generate the required compiled documents, considering creative and advanced solutions that would reduce cost, time and optimize project’s performance.
- Prepare bill of quantities for specific projects, for the project infrastructures.
- Generate preliminary layouts on AutoCAD, Helioscope, PV Case, Helios 3D or other similar software.
- Perform site visits and, if necessary, measure sites where the drawings are not available.
- Perform desktop analysis and prepare site layouts and energy yield assessments.
- Generate electrical schematics such as SLDs (Single Line Diagrams) aligned with the SANS, NRS and IEC Standards.
- Perform yield assessments using simulation software such as PVSYST and Helioscope following the rules and guidelines defined by the Engineering Manager.
- Work with the central engineering team to produce detailed engineering drawings, technical descriptions, and technical calculations for the engineering signoffs, construction drawings, drawings for projects licensing, EPC and execution.
- Analysis of information or inputs given by the Grid operator, regarding Grid Code requirements, PoC specifications and limitations, Grid support, and design the PV Plants according to that and in full compliance with it.
- Keeping up with the procurement team to share the project requirements and align the project design accordingly.
- Complete interconnection drawings, single line diagrams, bid sets, construction sets, and as-built drawings in addition to coordinating overflow of engineering with engineering vendors as needed for all solar and battery energy storage projects.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and authorities to ensure the quick approval of drawings - compliant with the job requirements and contract.
- Project Management
- Lend technical support to the business development team and be the technical representative for Fibon Energy during commercial negotiations and potential customers.
- Provide design, cost, schedule plan, and quality for the engineering component of the project.
- Assist the engineering and business development team on engineering solutions for planned projects.
- Review and approve material purchases based on project specified equipment.
- Assist in project financial control.
- Pre-approve Engineering shop drawings and present them to Engineering Manager for final approval.
- Monitor construction progress across all designated projects and resolve all project engineering queries.
- Supervise and review executing work quantities and quality of work.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- BSc, BEng/BTech/BEng Tech Electrical/Energy/Mechatronics.
- Mandatory experience (4 years+) in the South African solar industry working in rooftop, ground mount, or carport projects for commercial and industrial (C&I) companies.
- Proficient in AutoCAD software.
- Fully proficient in both PVSyst and Helioscope (Homer Pro a benefit).
