Senior Claims Consultant

Reference: PC -RC-2

Our client based in Cape Town is looking for a Senior Claims Consultant that has their RE5 and is FAIS compliant with 3 years commercial claims experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years commercial claims experience
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • CIMS - advantageous
  • Matric or equivalent qualification
  • RE5 – NON NEGOTIABLE
  • FAIS compliant (credits and/or full qualification)
DUTIES:
  • Ensure appropriate minimization of claims and claims expenses
  • Ensure and contribute to minimization of general expenses
  • Ensure that all stakeholder (e.g. clients, AE’s, insurers) communication is accurate, timeous, professional and relevant
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with internal (e.g. account executives) and external (e.g. clients) stakeholders
  • Keep client informed regarding to progression of the claim
  • Ensure and contribute to achieving the required client satisfaction targets
  • Claims Administration
  • Receive claims notification, and send and obtain any relevant forms or documents as may be required
  • Administer complete claims process according to defined claims procedures until claims are settled
  • Appoint assessor or loss adjustor
  • Apply policy terms and conditions
  • Keep internal system and records up to date at all times
  • Keep relevant internal stakeholders up to date on the progress of registered claims
  • Make assessment of claims validity and estimate value and administer mandated claims
  • Forward claims in excess of mandate to insurer
  • Obtain quotes for services
  • Arrange approval and payment for claims costs in line with claims and cover
  • Act as intermediary between insurer and client and timeously relay communication, requests and documentation
  • Follow the recoveries process, diarize follow-ups and keep clients informed
  • Ensure productivity targets are met
  • Contribute towards and ensure continuous improvement in own and team performance
  • Adhere to company mandates
  • Participate and contribute in ad hoc projects
  • Report any suspected fraud, misrepresentation and/or dishonesty
  • Keep accurate record of own activities

Purpose of the Role

The role handles the processing of investment-related transactions and provides administrative support for retail investment products. The core purpose of this position is to ensure service excellence by building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and independent financial advisers. The role involves managing queries, processing instructions efficiently, and contributing to the overall service delivery standards of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process incoming and pending investment instructions, including:
    • Opening new investment accounts.
    • Handling contributions, withdrawals, switches, and investment updates.
  • Deliver exceptional service to clients and advisers via phone and email communication.
  • Ensure all queries and requests are resolved promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all client and adviser interactions on internal systems.
  • Apply a solid understanding of investment product rules, processes, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Support the team leader and colleagues with complex queries, escalations, and workflow management.
Qualifications And Experience

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the Claims Indexing clerk's workload through the incoming claims mailbox and Papertrail indexing queue and ensure that emails and incoming documents are cleared daily.
  • Manage and guide the claims clerks daily to finalise claim assessments efficiently when dealing with queries, follow-up, goods replacements etc. as the claims team works with customers lodging a claim, branch operational staff, and/or head office branch accounts.
  • Monitor claims follow-up processing ensuring approved processes and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that claim escalations or disputes are referred to Monarch senior management in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and attend daily/weekly claims meetings with your claims team and management.
  • Monitor claims team in line with the criteria documented in the monthly / quarterly staff incentive letters.
  • Assist senior management with queries and / or follow-up requests from the insurance regulator (PA / FSCA), the National Finance Ombuds Scheme, South African Insurance Association (SAIA), South African Special Risks Insurance Association (SASRIA) etc.
  • Assist with providing information on claims queries received from e.g.: the Lewis Stores finance department, Lewis Stores Internal Audit department or management.

STAFF MANAGEMENT – CLAIMS

  • Monitor daily attendance and report to Insurance Claims Manager incorrect clock-ins where required.
  • Monitor and request overtime and leave requests with the Insurance Claims Manager.
  • Assist the Insurance Claims Manager to conduct interviews for claim clerk vacancies when necessary.
  • Attend to daily staffing needs and queries.
  • Assist with further developments/improvements where necessary.
  • Identify areas of training needs.
