Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Brand Manager to join their vibrant team.

Requirements :

Responsibilities :

Plan, Coordinate and Implement Strategies, Marketing Plans and Budgets

  • Review and develop strategic and annual brand plans with marketing budgets for the product portfolio.
  • Implement roll-out and coordinate brand plan activities between all parties involved.
  • Provide support for "Below-the-line" activities, including POS, sampling, and activations.
  • Plan and interpret brand architecture / brand blueprint / brand diamond.
  • Manage and optimise brand / product life cycles in the portfolio.
  • Evaluate the design and maintenance of brand image (logo, graphic design, etc.) in the portfolio.
  • Conduct quarterly P&L evaluations per SKU per channel and take action steps to improve total profitability.

Identify New Product Concepts and Successful Commercialisation Within Project Driven System

  • Liaise with product development to identify, develop, and launch new product concepts.
  • Coordinate the update / upgrade of product packaging through R&D.
  • Present product concept definition, product proposal, and preliminary and final business case.
  • Launch products to internal customers and follow up with Trade launch.
  • Manage the Trade launch phase and conduct post-launch evaluation of changed products.
  • Develop marketing support campaigns for the launch of new products, line extensions, packaging changes, etc.
  • Develop an understanding of the industrial processes related to the product portfolio.
Maintain Appropriate Market Intelligence Base
  • Ensure that comprehensive U&A research studies are done regularly on brands in the portfolio.
  • Analyse and interpret research results to apply insights and learnings to improve product performance in the future.
  • Commission annual brand health studies to ensure the brand remains relevant for the target market.
  • Evaluate market volume / value growth trends and market shares for relevant product categories in the portfolio through Nielsen reports.
  • Evaluate data, marketing, and competitor information from various sources like trade visits, research info, and publications, including sales performance, promotion performance, and market analysis.
  • Plan and control marketing expenditure of the product portfolio within the budget.
  • Develop briefs for suppliers, evaluate quotes of different suppliers.
  • Verify invoices and create purchase orders for approval.
  • Monitor and process marketing-related expenses.
  • Control and report on actual monthly and YTD marketing expenditure vs budget via the Marketing tracker tool.
  • Ensure marketing expenditure administration is executed according to Auditors' and Procurement's process requirements.
  • Monitor sales statistics.
  • Analyse sales volumes (daily) and profitability performance of the product portfolio by SKU, Region, Channel.
  • Make recommendations based on sales analysis and implement a 360-degree action plan with Sales / KA / Planning / Distribution.
  • Identify and initiate sales issues / problem areas in conjunction with Sales, Key Accounts, etc.
  • Coordinate the commercial activities with Sales, Production, Commercial, and Distribution of the relevant product categories.
  • Assist Demand Planning with volume projections based on planned brand activities / inputs from Key Accounts / Trade Marketing.
Manage Staff (Where Applicable)
  • Ensure optimal utilisation of staff.
  • Apply consistent discipline.
  • Train and develop staff.
  • Conduct meetings and ensure effective communication to all.
  • Liaise and communicate with management in all departments.
  • Set objectives and manage and measure the performance of subordinates.

Salary : R58 000 - R68 000

  • Using historical performance, accurately set and achieve annual wholesale budgets for the brands and formulate plans to drive sell-out and alleviate any sales deficits.
  • Effectively set global sell out targets for the brands with the sales team.
  • Effective adaption of global strategies to suit the SA market and to meet the retailer’s expectations.
  • Effective and regular business reviews to ascertain challenges and opportunities.
  • Together with Marketing Manager, monitor retail prices in the market to ensure the brand remains competitive, while at the same time monitoring brand ex works and forex trends and formulating strategies to manage pricing effectively.
  • Together with the sales team, manage distribution and review to ensure that the brand follows international guidelines and strategy, at the same time ensuring that doors deliver ROI by reaching minimum turnover levels.
  • Inventory management to ensure brand stock levels in house meet both the brand and organisational requirements, including accurate promotional forecasting.
  • Brand reporting

Stakeholder engagement and management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders to ensure full support of the brand in the market
  • Work with all stakeholders to gain maximum exposure for the brand
  • Co-ordination and implementation of PR activity

Budget and Financial Management

  • Management of marketing budget
  • Management and analysis of A&P spend to ensure effective usage thereof and ensuring a ROI and brand profitability
  • Ensuring achievement of wholesale budgets across all retailers
  • Ensuring market share growth across all retailers

  • Support the development and execution of the overall brand and product strategy
