Key Responsibilities:
As part of our team, your core duties will include:
Bookkeeping for various clients across multiple industries.
Drafting annual financial statements in accordance with applicable financial reporting frameworks.
Processing and managing payroll, including statutory submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL).
Performing account reconciliations (bank, debtors, creditors, and general ledger).
Assisting with VAT, EMP201s, and other SARS submissions.
Liaising with clients regarding financial queries and document requests.
Supporting senior staff on ad hoc tasks and special projects.

Requirements:
Completed SAICA / SAIPA / CIMA / CIBA articles.
Relevant qualification (BCom Accounting or similar).
Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Draftworx, or CaseWare) is advantageous.

Strong communication and client service skills.
Ability to manage deadlines and handle multiple client files efficiently.

  8. Work cross-departmentally, to align campaign strategies and goals on multichannel clients
Skills and experience:
  1. 4+ years as a digital marketing strategist or account manager
  2. Proven experience creating, managing and optimising Google Ads , LinkedIn and Meta campaigns as well as working on SEO and content marketing campaigns (ideally also email)
  3. Comfortable setting up, consulting on or taking over client account teams and ensuring that deliverables stay on track
  4. Excellent oral communications skills

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY-TO-DAY

  • Ensure that client renewals are processed timeously
  • Complete relevant RFPs and RFQs where required
  • Build a solid network of contacts in each client organisation
  • Uncover key issues in client organisations that our data can be used to solve
  • Ensure that our data is understood and used widely across client organisations
  • Upsell existing client base
    • Create a clear strategy for the growth of your current client base and your focal industries
    • Ensure that your clients are getting as much value out of our data as possible
    • Ensure that our data is pushed into varying teams within your client organisations and is used by a multitude of users and budget holders
  • Assist clients with any day to day queries
  • Ensure the smooth running of your clients’ Analyse and Engage accounts
  • Help clients get as much value as possible out of our data, whether through building dashboards, talking the clients through insights, or training the clients on Analyse and Engage
  • Brief the analyst team on reporting requirements and ensure that completed reports reflect client requirements; check reports for errors before sending them off to clients; manage client change requests
  • Internal stakeholder management and administration
    • Manage Account Managers (where applicable) and this will include hiring, onboarding, upskilling, strategising with, and setting KPIs for Account Managers
    • Setting clear client forecasts & upsell plans across yours and your Account Managers’ portfolios
    • Drafting cost estimates and proposals
    • Supporting finance on resolving any overdue payments

  • A tertiary qualification
  • 5+ years experience in a senior client service role

The Role



We’re looking for a passionateAccount Director to join our team, working from our Cape Town office.

As an Account Director , you should be someone who views marketing and advertising as a career and not a job, driven by an innate entrepreneurial spirit. You are passionate about brands, strategy and memorable campaigns, while building long-lasted and trusted relationships with your client to ensure continual business growth both for the agency and the client brand.

We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial, growth mindset - always looking to understand what keeps your clients up at night to proactively propose creative solutions and build their business. We are looking for someone who is passionate about brands from various sectors, no matter how big or how small, with the ability to flex across multiple clients. You should be comfortable and proficient with varied communication scales, from ATL and BTL to digital and content marketing, with equal gusto across all.

You will be reporting into the Business Lead (positioned in Cape Town) across multiple clients and disciplines. You need to be able to hit the ground running from day 1, considering yourself to be a self-starter with a passionate drive for excellence.

Responsibilities

The Account Director will be responsiblefor:

  • Management of TTL campaigns and communication on a day-to-day basis (experience on ATL - TV, OOH, Radio - and print production is preferable as well as digital campaign experience) across multiple client portfolios.
  • Management of digital Content Marketing (editorial) content for multiple client portfolios
  • Management of client expectations and service delivery by being a focal and trusted point for day-to-day interaction.
  • Assisting your line manager / Business Lead in driving organic business growth within your portfolio as well as flexing into areas of new business / client wins that are acquired over time.

Qualifications

  • Marketing qualification essential, ideally educated to a Diploma level
  • 4 - 6 years’ experience in Account Management in Communication/ Advertising Industry
  • Seamless managing the expectations of multiple stakeholders (internally and externally) to deliver according to brief, strategy and to the highest standard
  • You must have experience running jobs, projects, and campaigns from start to finish with minor senior support. You should have the drive to take ownership, and develop your portfolio
  • Experience driving out the production of high-quality printed material is critical
  • ATL, TV and print production is preferred
  • Experience in digital is preferrable
  • Experience on Chase is preferred

  • Keep abreast of what is happening in the market (broad communication trends and Client competitor work) to add additional value to your client’s business
  • Continuously have bigger business conversations with senior Clients to understand what’s keeping them up at night in order to proactively propose creative solutions
  • Be prepared to work long hours as and when is necessary in order to deliver according to the deadline and to support the broader team
  • Join in the agency culture to build strong relationships across the business

What does an Account Director do at Hogarth?

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Account Director to join our dynamic team. As an Account Director, you will be responsible for the overall management of key client accounts, leading and developing a team, and contributing to the growth of our business. You will be the primary point of contact for client and internal escalations, ensuring smooth and efficient operations while fostering strong, long-lasting relationships. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of integrated campaigns, particularly in the video production space, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Reporting lines and key stakeholders:

This role reports to the Production Lead/Group Account Director - Johannesburg. You will work closely with the Johannesburg and Cape Town teams.

Key Responsibilities: Client Account Management:
  1. Assume overall responsibility for the successful management of assigned client accounts.
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders, managing their perceptions and expectations.
  3. Act as the primary point of contact for client escalations, proactively resolving issues and communicating effectively.
  4. Understand and adhere to contractual obligations, commercial arrangements, and SLAs.
  5. Liaise with Print Production/Broadcast teams to ensure client requirements are met and resolve any issues or complaints to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
  6. Maintain a deep understanding of the client, agency, and Hogarth relationships and how they interact.
  7. Coach and develop team members to ensure their success through personalized development plans.
  8. Provide guidance and support to team members in their day-to-day tasks and responsibilities.
  9. Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
Business Growth & Financial Management:
  1. Support the Group Account Director (GAD) in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  2. Work closely with the GAD on P&L management, forecasting, and budgeting.
  3. Prepare cost estimates and support the SAM/AM in their cost estimation process, providing final sign-off.
Operational Excellence:
  1. Make informed decisions and solve problems based on sound knowledge and experience.
  2. Work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  3. Understand the technical elements of video production, including formats, delivery options, uploads, compression, and web platforms (YouTube, etc.).
  4. Possess knowledge of the editing and post-production process for video.
Qualifications & Experience:
  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in Client Service.
  2. Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an Account Director leading a team.
  3. Relevant tertiary qualification.
  4. Experience working with/for a production facility is a strong advantage.
  5. Experience working with/for an advertising agency is a strong advantage.
  6. Proven experience working on integrated campaigns (Print, Digital, and Video) is essential.
  7. High level of IT literacy, including proficiency in spreadsheet software.
  8. Excellent prioritization, time management, and attention to detail.
  9. Resilience and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  10. Fluent oral and written English is essential; other languages are desirable.
  11. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  12. Highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and proactive.
  13. Clear understanding of international brand challenges.
