PwC is looking for a SAP Technical Lead to join our Cloud & Digital practice. A SAP Technical Lead is overall responsible for the design and implementation of the technical environment.

The ideal candidate would have a strong SAP technical background and 8+ years proven experience in SAP cloud technology enabled business transformation projects and programmes.

Qualifications / Certifications required:

  • 8+ years of technical solution specialist experience; consulting experience beneficial
  • A thorough understanding of the full software development lifecycle is required.
  • Cloud experience recommended
  • SAP Certification, preferably SAP BTP
  • Understanding of roles and responsibilities between customer, partner and SAP in Cloud projects

Experience required:

  • More than 8 years of SAP implementation and/or technical design experience
  • Ability to identify and challenge solution scenarios by taking the business environment into account
  • Provide input on the SAP platform and tools
  • Execute the agreed solution landscape
  • Experience and extensive knowledge of SAP systems, including SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA and SAP Business Technology Platform and the required architecture and infrastructure to support them
  • Functional/technical proficiency with at least 4+ full lifecycle SAP implementations
  • Understanding of SAP roadmap around Cloud products and how it integrates
  • Experience and knowledge of SAP system migration or upgrades
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering
  • Understanding of IT related technologies that enable digital transformation
  • Previous experience in a consulting environment is beneficial

Responsibilities of role:

  • Provide technical leadership for development teams, and define the standards and practices to adhere to
  • Manage technical architecture analysis, design, build, test and deployment for the
  • Execution architecture - technical strategy for printing, faxing, batch scheduling etc.
  • Operations architecture – backup and recovery, disaster recovery, high availability etc. and
  • Define, manage and assign system administration activities and procedures for the development, quality assurance, test and training systems and assigns ownership of administration activities
  • Develop the required policies and procedures to govern the development, quality assurance, testing and training environments
  • Create, estimate and plan all work effort relating to SAP Basis activities and technical architecture components
  • Work with the Data Management lead to define the data migration strategy for the programme
  • Define and manage the sizing of the SAP solution and manage the process with the hardware provider / hosting provider
  • Advise on the technical approach for all systems integrating to SAP
  • Manage 3rd party dependencies related to the SAP environment
  • Plan and manage the SAP systems maintenance schedule
  • Participate in the planning and testing of the DR
  • Manage all SAP technical changes
  • Ensure the implementation, upgrade and support of the latest SAP system versions, where relevant
  • Ensure that technical deliverables are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality constraints
  • Ensure that developed technical solutions are peer reviewed, formally documented and signed off by business
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the technical team, ensuring appropriate distribution of activities to the team members and alignment on expected deliverables and due dates
  • Participate in programme risk and issue management
  • Participate in programme Design Authority forums

Skill sets required:

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of SAP solutions, SAP architecture principles including Clean Core
  • Cloud Platforms: Expertise in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Data Integration: Experience with ETL processes and data integration techniques
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor teams, providing technical guidance and support
  • Adaptability: Willingness to stay updated with the latest data technologies and adapt to new challenges.

Role related attributes:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of SAP systems, particularly SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP.
  • Facilitation: Excellent leadership, collaboration and influence skills
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.

As a team player in the SAP CoE team, you and your team will be required to deliver development and integration services relating to S/4HANA Finance, SAP Data Services, Master Data Governance, Insurance Analyzer, SAP ECC HCM, Success Factors, and SAP Business Technology Platform.
You will lead a team of SAP development and integration specialists delivering expertise in support of business-as-usual system changes and bespoke Cloud and on-premise applications using fit-for-purpose SAP technologies. End-to-End SAP module responsibility, which includes improving efficiency, reducing waste, identifying, and implementing solutions, scoping requirements, planning & tracking product budget, meeting deadlines, and accurately documenting necessary requirements. To assure this delivery, it is essential to work closely with the Business Product Owners and IT product team.
All activities are to be done in accordance with local/global strategic planning and standards in compliance with the Company's Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy & S.H.E. requirements, and to perform delegated S.H.E. tasks and duties and to inform the superior about deviations.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum NQF 7 – BSC/BCom/BTech in Information Technology or relevant equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in SAP S/4 HANA, SAP MM, WM, and TM module(s).
  • Ability to debug SAP ABAP will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain processes will be beneficial.

Job Requirements:

  • Solid experience as an SAP Business Analyst within one or more of the following modules: MM, WM, PP, or SD
  • Knowledge and experience of how to plan projects, define deliverables, and control quality and cost matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster an environment for ideation, prototyping, and production.
  • Demonstrated business acumen to take from design to implementation and preferably experience scaling a concept.
  • Experience with software development methodologies and practices (Agile, Scrum, etc.)
  • Experience in Data Analysis and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Ability to perform the minimum required physical and mental requirements of the function.
  • Must have an excellent ability to multi-task effectively while working on several projects synchronously.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Negotiation skills and strong focus on goals and results.
  • Experience leading a product team will be an advantage.
  • Responsible for the planning and coordination of activities required to steer the product to align with its strategic future roadmap.
  • Clearly communicate and demonstrate the value of the product within the organization.
  • Evaluation, documentation, scoping, and prioritization of new requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement through the implementation and management of new processes to enhance productivity output.
  • Participate and provide feedback on any activities where QA practices and risks are to be considered from the writing of user stories, pre-development testing notes, and executing QA testing activities in accordance with processes and quality guidelines to identify defects/quality concerns in projects.
  • Responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating the product budget.
  • Effective communication and feedback between IT product team and Business stakeholders.
  • Provide feedback to management.
  • Act as an escalation point for client issues that require product change resolution.
  • Participate in team discussions and provide input regarding strategic team decisions.
  • Actively participate in mitigating impediments which impact successful completion of deliverables.
  • Collaborate and work with colleagues in different time zones.
