Purpose of Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented SAP ABAP Developer with proven experience in SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG) and a strong understanding of SOX compliance requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining ABAP programs and interfaces, ensuring secure and compliant integration between SAP S/4HANA or ECC and SAP Ariba via CIG.

Additionally, the candidate should have hands-on experience in migrating legacy SAP technologies and custom developments to the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). This includes re-platforming ABAP code, leveraging SAP BTP services such as SAP Integration Suite, SAP Extension Suite, and SAP Build, and ensuring alignment with cloud-native development principles.

Key Accountabilities

Design, develop, and maintain custom ABAP programs, reports, enhancements, forms, and interfaces.

Implement and support integration solutions between SAP and SAP Ariba using CIG.

Ensure all development and integration activities comply with SOX controls, including change management, access control, and audit trail requirements.

Collaborate with functional teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Conduct technical reviews and ensure adherence to SAP development standards and best practices.

Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and evidence of SOX-compliant development practices.

Perform unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization.

Participate in system upgrades, patches, go-live support and other planned improvement / migration activities as require and planned by the company.

Formal Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

SAP certification in ABAP or SAP Ariba Integration.

Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Exposure to SAP S/4HANA environments.

Required Skills And Experience

6+ years of experience in SAP ABAP development.

Proven experience with SAP Ariba CIG integration (cXML, IDocs, middleware) and BTP Migration.

Strong understanding of SOX compliance in SAP environments, including audit and control frameworks.

Proficiency in:

• ABAP Objects
• BAPIs, BADIs, User Exits, Enhancements
• SmartForms, Adobe Forms
• ALV Reporting
• RFCs and Web Services
• IDoc configuration and troubleshooting
• SAP Workflow
• SAP Fiori and OData services (preferred)

• Exposure to SAP BW, S/4HANA, Alteryx for analytics/automation, and Confluent Kafka for real-time data streaming.

Develop and implement SAP enhancements and new functionalities in line with business requirements and best practice.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Responsible for the SAP Netweaver applications development in ECC, BW, and Enterprise Portal / UI5 Portal.
2. Design, build and test custom SAP technical solutions based on business requirements using ABAP OO, SAP UI5, SAP Fiori, SAP Web Dynpro and Dialog programmes.
3. Full life-cycle SAP implementation including all custom reporting, interfaces, enhancements, forms, workflows (RICEFW) and portal configuration.
4. Interface development and support using HTTP, XML, SOAP, Web Services, RFC, IDOCS and ABAP.
5. Code, test and document ABAP enhancements for all SAP modules.
6. Support of development requirements in the following SAP modules: FI, HCM (incl. payroll), MM, SD, PS, PM, Travel, CO, any other SAP module implemented at the SABC.
7. Responsible for troubleshooting and debugging of the SAP system.
8. Facilitate continuous business improvement.
9. Facilitate design sessions with SAP Functional Leads and business process owners in order to ensure best practice enhancements/implementations.
10. Ensure proper technical impact assessment of all risks and issues and changes to scope, requirements or design. Provide advice on any avoidance, mitigation or remedial actions required.
11. Ensure that development projects take full account of and correctly interface with existing systems, infrastructure and enterprise architecture.
12. Ensure that all aspects of the developed software meet requirements and are in line with the agreed design e.g. data, user experience, architecture, security, quality & operations.
13. Ensure adherence to internal development standards as well as global best practices.
14. Provide documentation to manage handover activities so that software can transition smoothly from development into test and production environments.
15. Adhere to the team's quality objectives. Monitor and take responsibility for unit test coverage and completion to minimise defects in subsequent testing / production.
16. Commit to the delivery of high-quality solutions. Ensure that development is carried out in accordance with agreed quality standards and procedures and that all new development goes through an appropriate testing process.
17. Focus on customers and their requirements. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, colleagues, senior management and software users to enhance design, development, deployment and maintenance activities.
18. Proactively keep abreast of industry developments, skills and technologies and share information, ideas and best practice with other development team members and ERP COE to improve skills and avoid single points of failure.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Programming diploma / degree or relevant qualification (NQF level 6/7).
• Certification: SAP ABAP Developer.
• Minimum of 7 years' SAP ABAP development experience of which a minimum of 3 years should have been in a support environment.
• Experience in SAP Fiori implementation - advantage.
• Completed SAP ABAP Academy - advantage.
• Certification in other SAP modules - advantage.
• Good understanding of key business processes and integration points - advantage.

• Solid understanding of OO-ABAP, ABAP on HANA, and SAP best practices.
• Experience with Fiori/UI5, OData, and RAP is highly desirable.
