KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Expansion

Cross-Functional Alignment

Purpose Of The Position
The Lead: Demand Planning's primary purpose is to assume a "Super User" and management role supporting and overseeing Demand Planners and the Demand Planning Process within the S&OP cycle at a strategic, tactical and operational level.   • Lead the end-to-end Demand Planning function for the centre in support of all regions.

  • Make recommended adjustments to generate a statistical forecast based on changes in demand and market trends.
  • Review recommended sales forecasts and inventory goals (emphasis on product/segment objectives, new product introduction, and promotions).
  • Analyse historical demand and remove anomalies (including outliers) from the norm using historical information, knowledge of the category and through receiving input from the relevant functional departments (Sales and Marketing).
  • Review sales plans, finance budget updates or latest estimates and demand drivers.
  • Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by collaborating with sales, marketing, and finance departments in support of the S&OP process.
  • Enter and modify data and ensure the correctness of the product/customer and location hierarchy.
  • Identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports about forecast accuracy and the demand planning process.

  • B.Com degree in disciplines such as Economics, Supply Chain Management or Statistics.
  • 7+ Years of hands-on experience in demand planning.
  • 5+ Years of experience interacting with sales, finance, and marketing departments concerning inventory and commercial activities such as market demand trends, product seasonality, promotional campaigning, etc
  • Excellent MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with advanced planning software at the super user level.
  • Intermediate level understanding of the integration between the planning system and other corporate systems (BY, BIP, Tableau, etc.)

The market demand planner is the facilitator of the Control Tower, Pre-Demand and Demand Reviews (Step 2) within the cluster and country for the S&OP process, ensuring an efficient, effective and reliable review driven by an unbiased, consensus process. PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION:

To support in creating alignment between Financial (Sales Planning – IBP), Channel, Brand and Supply Planning using the SAP IBP environment to harmonize and house this single source of truth. To provide an accurate forecast of future demand which maximizes the sales opportunity while minimizing excess stock risk.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow up with channels to ensure demand is captured within the agreed cut-off dates

  • To ensure article classification is maintained and regularly reviewed

  • Analyze supply constraints and determine the impact on the overall Demand Plan

  • Follow up on supply constraints and drive timeous resolutions where required

  • Prepare and submit bi-monthly supply constraint reports to the Senior Manager Demand Planning.

  • Provide the required information to the PSI team to ensure accurate buy decisions are made

  • Support with the preparation of the exceptional buy template.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Operational Demand Planning process

  • Provide support to the Demand Planning Managers as required

  • Support the DTC teams with clearance planning in IBP

  • Cluster: CTC (Brand), Sales (Wholesale and DTC) and SCM (Product Supply Interface)

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in financial management/accounting

  • Business: minimum 4+ years

  • Functional: minimum 3+ years' experience merchandising, sales/retail or finance, ideally in the sporting goods industry

  • Cross-functional experience ideally with marketing / sales / finance

  • Industry: sporting goods / retail / consumer goods
