Responsibilities
  • Close liaison with Executive Management; Senior Management and Plant Management
  • Oversee internal and external audits
  • Management of all legal and other compliance requirements
  • Technical support and development of SHERQ Management Systems
  • Report on effectiveness of the SHERQ Management system and make recommendations for improvement, and closing the loop to Snr and Plant management
  • Monitor workplace to ensure safe conditions are in place and maintained
  • Monitor compliance of SHERQ training
  • Ensure effectiveness of audit findings and mitigation actions taken
  • Verify effectiveness of risk management process
  • Conduct Annual SHERQ Management Review Process
  • Manage internal, cross business and contractor audits
  • Manage effectiveness of SHERQ strategies
  • Manage effectiveness of HCS management process
  • Manage the Shop Floor Audit Process and ensure loop is closed
Qualifications
  • B-Degree / Higher National Diploma / Masters Diploma (NQF 7/10) in Health, Safety and Compliance
Experience and Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in a managerial role
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the risk management process
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the SHERQ Training process (including FPS)
  • Good Knowledge and understanding of the following systems/disciplines is essential:
    • ISO 9001 Standard
    • ISO 14001 Standard
    • ISO 45001 Standard (including FPS)
    • ISO 31000 Standard
    • RCA Process
    • Legal and other requirements with regards to Compliance Matters

The Role :

The Health Safety Environmental (HSE) Officer will be responsible for developing implementing and maintaining comprehensive HSE and Governance frameworks within Ctrack. This role must ensure compliance with all relevant South African legislation promote a strong safety culture minimize environmental impact and support sound governance practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities :

Health & Safety

  • Develop implement and maintain the companys Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies procedures and standards in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulations.
  • Ensure all required legal appointments relevant to this Company are done and renewed as necessitated by expiry dates and terminations of service.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments hazard identification and implement effective control measures to mitigate risks across all operational areas.
  • Plan conduct and document regular OSH inspections audits and workplace assessments.
  • Investigate incidents accidents and near misses ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Develop and deliver engaging HSE training programs and awareness campaigns for employees
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance including key performance indicators incident statistics and compliance status.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records documentation and reporting systems.
  • Organize for the election and appointment of H & S committee members
  • Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities (e.g. Department of Labour) on OHS matters.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness and response plans are in place and regularly tested.
  • Schedule and attend all OHS meetings draft agendas distribute minutes and maintain filed copies of minutes
  • Present induction and inhouse OHS training as required
  • Ensure all fire protection systems alarms and emergency exits are functional and regularly inspected.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001 : 2007 and industry standards.
  • Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives within the organization.
  • Report on environmental performance and compliance as and when required.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely submission of environmental reports as and when required.

Governance

  • Assist in the development implementation and monitoring of corporate governance frameworks policies and procedures.
  • Support the organization in ensuring compliance with relevant governance regulations legislation and best practices.
  • Participate in internal audits related to governance compliance health & safety.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of ethics and compliance training programs.
  • Maintain relevant governance documentation and records.
  • Assist in the management of stakeholder relationships related to HSE and Governance.
  • Maintain statistics for annual board meetings on IODs types of incidents registered medically boarded employees people with disability
  • Analyse OHS statistics and compile a quarterly report including suggested preventative measures and reevaluation of risk assessments.

General

  • Stay abreast of changes in relevant HSE and Governance legislation regulations and industry best practices
  • Collaborate effectively with all departments to integrate HSE and Governance principles into daily operations.
  • Prepare and present reports on HSE and Governance performance to management.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by management.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health & Safety Environmental Management or a related field.
  • OHSAS 18001 training
  • 3 5 years of OHS experience in a similar environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 (OHS) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of South African SHE legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
