This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing consulting company who offers progression and exposure to multiple organisations and industries. As a health and safety consultant you will work with management teams from multiple organisations to implement a health and safety management system in a systematic way. You will support the delivery of SHEQ objectives and be involved in all stages of the project and will be responsible for providing regular feedback to clients.

NB: Having a valid driver's license and own vehicle is essential for this position.

You will be responsible to:

• Provide advice to support overall compliance to OHS legal requirements (OHS Act & Regulations, COIDA, SANS, SABS etc.) and mitigate the client’s exposure to operational losses, fines, penalties or reputational damage.
• Implement and maintain a detailed project plan for each client.
• Conduct safety audits aligned with the industry standard(s).
• Prepare and deliver safety files that are specific to the project.

The project plan includes, but is not limited to:

• Drafting and implementing OHS Policies.
• Drafting and implementing risk assessments and safe work procedures.
• Conducting Incident Investigations and reporting back to management of the organisation.
• Training and upskilling the client’s employees to perform inspections on a monthly basis and auditing inspections.
• Drafting and implementing emergency preparedness and response procedures.
• Establishing and facilitating safety committees.
• Drafting and conducting OHS inductions as per client’s requirements.

You'll need a customer-first mindset and the following skills to succeed in this role:

• Grade 12
• National Diploma/Degree or equivalent
• Appropriate H&S Programmes; SAMTRAC or NEBOSCH IGC
• Demonstrated ability in MS Office
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle is essential
• Minimum 1 - 2 years experience in Health & Safety
• Consulting experience will be advantageous

• Diploma or Degree in a food-related field such as Food Technology, Agriculture, Consumer Science, or Microbiology
• Accredited training in GMP, HACCP, Internal Auditing, and FSMS
• At least 5 years of experience in a food environment
• Preferably trained as a Food Safety Lead Auditor
• Excellent understanding of Food Safety Systems including FSSC 22000, BRCGS, and SIZA
• Experience with GLOBALG.A.P is advantageous
• Fluent in both Afrikaans and English non-negotiable
• Own vehicle and drivers license non negotiable
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Occasional travel required, including the possibility of overnight stays

• Develop detailed, tailored project plans in line with project proposals for all implementation projects.
• Manage implementation projects to ensure they run efficiently, meeting timelines and deliverables as outlined in the project proposal.
• Create, update, and tailor compliance documents and checklists for each project to ensure they meet a professional standard, are practical for the client, and comply with the relevant standards. This may involve developing either paper-based or online software systems, depending on client requirements.
• Conduct gap audits, internal audits, hygiene audits, and readiness audits to a professional standard, and ensure audit reports are submitted within five working days of completion.
• Prepare for, manage, and facilitate training interventions, ensuring a high standard of delivery and positive delegate feedback.
• Complete learner assessments according to the companys assessment procedures and processes. Ensure that all portfolios and batch QMS documents are completed accurately and submitted within required timeframes.
• Attend office planning sessions and contribute to effective team collaboration.
• Coordinate and update the training and consulting schedule in collaboration with the Manager.
• Liaise with clients in advance to confirm planned consultations.
• Prepare thoroughly for each client consultation to ensure billable time is used productively and efficiently.
• Report any project deviations or concerns promptly to allow for timely resolution in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Assist in estimating consultation time required for implementation projects by analyzing client checklists and master document lists.
• Communicate professionally and promptly in response to client queries or correspondence.
• Make effective use of available admin time by proactively improving auditing and consulting templates or training materials.
• Uphold all company QMS processes, policies, and procedures, and suggest improvements where applicable.
