Key performance areas include :

• Develop and implement loss prevention strategies and procedures to mitigate risks and prevent theft, fraud, and shrinkage.
• Conduct regular inspections of the store premises, including stockrooms, sales floor, and cash handling areas, to identify potential security vulnerabilities and take appropriate measures to address them.
• Monitor and analyze CCTV footage to identify any suspicious activities or unusual behavior, and take immediate action to prevent any losses or potential threats.
• Train and educate store employees on loss prevention best practices, such as identifying shoplifting behaviors, handling cash transactions, and responding to emergencies.
• Conduct internal investigations into incidents of theft, fraud, or policy violations, collect evidence, and prepare detailed reports for management and law enforcement when necessary.
• Identify risk throughout the retail stores.
• Review physical security of premises, stock, and fixed assets.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and techniques used by shoplifters and fraudsters, and proactively implement measures to counteract these tactics.
• Implement inventory control measures, including regular stock counts and audits, to identify discrepancies and address any issues that may lead to losses.
• Maintain accurate records of all incidents, investigations, and actions taken, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
• Work closely with store management, and other stakeholders to develop and implement loss prevention strategies that align with business objectives .

Requirements

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and experience :

• Relevant tertiary education.
• 3 – 4 years proven experience in retail loss prevention or a related field.
• Strong observation skills with the ability to identify suspicious behavior and potential security threats.
• Familiarity with inventory control systems and procedures.

An opportunity has become available for a Loss Prevention Business Partner . The successful incumbent will be responsible for conducting stock takes at the store. This role requires an investigative, attention to detail and focused individual who is passionate about the work they do.

Primary Purpose of the Job

The Risk Prevention Officer will be responsible for observing risk and objectively identify and communicate any risk concerns, either verbally or in writing. The individual will be responsible to protect the Company’s property and personnel by maintaining a safe, risk free and secure environment at all times.

Duties

• Accurately observe risk & identify potential risk.
• Observe and monitor potential risk, crime or disorder and promptly investigate disturbances.
• Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of any suspicious activities or irregularities to prevent any form of loss or damage.
• Inform violators promptly of company policy and procedures and record such interaction.
• Secure premises and personnel by randomly patrolling buildings and perimeter.
• Responsible for inspecting buildings, equipment and access points and report any observations out of the norm.
• Clear premises of any waste lying around and dispose in a dustbin.
• Respond to alarm reaction timely.
• Accurately and timely escalate risk observations to the relevant individual(s).
• Monitor access points and permit entry.
• Responsible for controlling traffic by directing visitors.
• Analyse security footage when required.
• Performs First Aid or Fire Fighting functions when required.
• Accurate, detailed and timely reporting of risk or potential risk.

• Adhere to all company procedures before granting access to staff, including conducting and passing breathalyzer tests.
• Manning all gates at all times.
• Patrol all assigned areas at regular intervals.
• Fully adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times.

• At least 5 years of previous security experience.
• Registered with PSIRA - minimum Grade C.
• Grade 12 or equivalent with good numeracy and literacy skills.
