A fast growing engineering firm specializing in renewable energy, construction, and Independent Power Producer (IPP) services seeks a dynamic Renewable Project Manager to drive solar and power infrastructure projects across South Africa and international markets. Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree/National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 8+ years’ experience in project management within the power/energy sector (solar, substations, transmission/distribution)
• Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) and professional registration (ECSA, SAIEE, SACPCMP) advantageous
• Proficiency in MS Project, CAD software, and financial acumen (budget forecasting, P&L)
• Fluent English (French highly advantageous for African projects)

Key focus areas include:

• Managing a 1MW PV Solar Farm project (from conception to commissioning) 
• Leading multidisciplinary teams (engineers, contractors, stakeholders) and mentoring junior engineers

Our client is an international IPP specialising in solar PV, CSP, desalination and wind. They are looking for a new CEO to run a large facility based in the Northern Cape. This role involves extensive travel to site and can be site-based or based in JHB.

Purpose of this role:

The Project Chief Executive Officer (PCEO) will lead the project company operations, people, and processes to ensure contractual, regulatory, and reporting obligations are met. The PCEO oversees construction by the EPC contractor and operations by the O&M contractor for the profitable, sustainable, and safe construction and operation of the plant.

KPA’s:

• Ensuring compliance to contracts including EPC, CTA, PPA, PWPA, O&M and others.
• Maintaining a healthy relationship with stakeholders including Off taker and partners.
• Maintaining a productive relationship with O&M contractor.
• Sourcing ways and means to optimize operations, pre-empting and identifying challenges and opportunities to increase profit margin.
• Implementing approved infrastructure and business plans; using project management methods, sound financial management, and developing metrics that detail success and sustainability of operations.
• Communicating with broad stakeholder constituencies including the Project Company Board, member project companies, government bodies, industry, and the public.

Requirements for this role:

• B.Sc Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering.
• Degree in Business Management.
• Advanced business or management degree preferred. Additional advanced technical training in relating to utility management is highly desirable.
• 15+ years’ experience in management in the Power Plant industries.
• 5 years’ experience as a senior-level manager is strongly preferred.
• Must have a proven record of career success including the planning, development, and successful implementation of sustainable and profitable business plans.
• Related experience covering management construction and operational activities.
• Must have substantial experience in the areas of organizational management, board relations, government relations, labor relations, human resource management, HSSE (health, safety, sustainability and environmental), finance and marketing.
