What You'll Be Cooking Up
Routine and Reactive Maintenance
- Respond promptly to unscheduled breakdowns or faults, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuity of operations.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Carry out effective repairs in line with manufacturer specifications and safety standards, ensuring systems are restored to full functionality.
- Accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and submitted in accordance with company procedures and compliance requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of all service activities, including maintenance schedules, fault reports, repair actions, and parts used.

Job Purpose
To perform skilled maintenance, installation, repair and inspection work on complex refrigeration equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, Maintenance and Repairs:
• Installation and maintenance of refrigeration equipment and systems.
• Test components using electrical, mechanical test equipment.
• Charge and leak test the refrigerant charge system.
• Perform pe-start up checks on equipment and adjust as necessary.
• Lay-out and install reference points for determining equipment location.
• Prepare documentation (e.g. records of refrigerants, paperwork, logs, time and materials, specifications, etc) for the purpose of providing written support in compliance with regulations and/or conveying information.
• Planning of work according to maintenance plan and schedule and per breakdown.
• Maintenance and repair of all utilities, refrigeration, warehouse equipment and facilities in accordance with the maintenance plan and schedule.
• Render assistance to Handyman and Technical Assistant on faults that cannot be solved on their level of required competence.
• Daily inspection of all work completed on site including site facilities and buildings.
• Coordinate with Operations management, administration and other members of the maintenance team to complete projects/work orders efficiently.
• Inspect systems and their components to ensure safety and identify necessary repairs and to provide an ongoing programme of preventative maintenance.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance as needed and/or assigned to ensure the ongoing functioning of refrigeration system.
• Diagnose problems and /or failures in refrigeration systems to identify equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs.
• Repair various items, systems and/or components to ensure that equipment is available and in safe working condition.
• Inform Operations management/Warehouse Manager regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain tools and/or equipment to ensure the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
• Respond to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Transport various items (e.g. tools, equipment, suppliers, etc) to ensure the availability of materials required at job site.
• Dismantle malfunctioning systems, analyse and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment.
Implementation of Safety and Health Environment, Risk and Quality (SHEQ):
• Implement and comply with health and safety procedures.
• Ensure that documentation required within Total Integrated Management System (TIMS) is applied consistently within scope of function.
Project Management:
• Assist Engineering manager in project scoping and request for proposals.
• Effective management of the installation and commissioning work on site.
• Review and sign off project work as assigned.
Stock Control:
• Complete a spares requisition once spares have been drawn from stores to have the buyer procure and replenish stock.
Assistant Guidance:
• Guide, train and coordinate the functions of the technical assistant and handyman.
Effective Teamwork and Self-Management:
• Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management in terms of planning and prioritising, and self-development.
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.
• Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met, the potential risks thereof and provide appropriate resolution.
• Demonstrate willingness to help others and “go the extra mile” to meet targets and objectives.

• At least 3 Years’ experience in plant installation, operation, maintenance and repair of industrial/commercial refrigeration equipment.
• Valid Code EB Driver’s licence.
