- Provide technical accounting support to group companies and drive the implementation of IFRS
- Produce interim and year-end reports
- Produce and analyse monthly management accounts
- Prepare the consolidated Group and subsidiary financial statements
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly board packs
- Assist in the preparation of the integrated annual report
- Assist in the preparation of analyst presentation
- Provide information for the preparation and analysis of the annual budget and quarterly forecasting process
- Ensure that all administrative and adhoc duties associated with the role are completed as per legislative requirements and internal procedures.

Our client is a global energy business and they are looking for an ACCA/ACA qualified Accountant with team management experience. You should have significant post qualification experience of financial accounting and statutory reporting, gained in a commercial environment (10+ years).
Responsibilities- Proven track record of leading and managing teams of finance professionals
- Advanced user of Excel & SAP required, working knowledge of OneSource preferred.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK & US GAAP accounting standards
- Manage the financial accounting team of 4 and co-ordinate the month-end close process, ensuring timely & accurate internal corporate reporting.
- Responsible for meeting all statutory reporting and external audit requirements for European entities, in a timely and compliant manner.
- Ensure a strong controls environment, maintaining and documenting SOX controls and completing SOX testing on a timely basis.
- Lead and manage the statutory accounts process for all of the business' entities in Europe, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant reporting. Manage the local relationship with our external auditors KPMG.
- Co-ordinate audits and manage the timely submission of all analysis, schedules and documentation on the ‘Prepared by client’ list.
- Prepare statutory accounts as required, with supporting schedules and documentation to meet all external audit requirements.
- Manage the HQ accounting function for the region. Coordinate the month-end close process, ensuring integrity of the data in accounting system, SAP. Ensure all internal close and reporting deadlines are met. Keep up-to-date with accounting standards, interpret and apply new standards for the region, as required.
- Manage the accounting process for all local corporate activity such as company creations and closures, dividends, capital actions and intercompany. Complete pension analysis, deferred credits and charges reports on a monthly basis. Oversees the accounting for legal & environmental reserves, currency, JV, ad valorem tax and employee benefit analysis.
- Lead and manage the financial accounting team, setting performance expectations, providing feedback, direction and coaching.
- Lead ad hoc financial accounting projects & analysis to support the European business. Examples include acquisition accounting, buy or sell side M&A accounting support, going concern cash flow forecasting.
- Ensure a strong control environment, making sure all SOX controls are well maintained and documented. Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations and other key financial controls are executed to a high standard and on a timely basis.
- Leverage systems and technology to streamline processes to ensure efficient use of the team's time. Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- ACCA/ACA qualified with significant post-qualification experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting in a commercial environment (10+ years).
- Strong team management experience.
- Advanced Excel and SAP; working knowledge of OneSource preferred.
- Knowledge of UK and US GAAP accounting standards.

This role is in the financial reporting team, which has principal responsibility for all external reporting and technical accounting. We are looking to expand the capacity and skills needed to enable delivery of the increasingly complex demands of financial reporting from accounting standard setters, regulators and other stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesTo be a senior member of the team responsible for the satisfying the statutory financial reporting requirements of the group – specifically covering the consolidated reporting for Investec plc and Investec Bank plc. This will typically include :
- Preparing / reviewing the group annual statutory accounts and working with external auditors
- Preparation of key disclosure notes, including with respect to financial instruments
- Liaison with Investor Relations, risk and other finance teams
- Key contact and driver of the external audit process
- Periodic reporting to satisfy the needs of a variety of internal and external customers including the regulators
- Assisting in preparing balance sheet analysis to support the quarterly financial returns to the regulators, including investigating and documenting variances
- Develop and deliver technical training sessions to enhance the quality and classification of data used to generate the financial statement disclosures
- Participation in projects to drive implementation of new accounting standards and financial reporting requirements and continue the drive for increased automation in production of the financial statements
