Quantity Surveyor - Cape Town

• Prepare cost analysis based on the architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials required and labour involved.
• Prepare cost plans to enable design teams to produce practical designs for construction projects, which involve liaising with architects, engineers and subcontractors.
• Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
• Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and, where appropriate, negotiate with contractors.
• Control all stages of projects within predetermined budget and expenditure.
• Monitor and keep track of project progress and be responsible for the measurement and valuation of variations in the work during the contract, for agreement of interim payments and the final account.
• Carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales.
• Provide advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters.
• Manage and produce accurate formal reports in accordance with business timetable.

• Qualified QS.
• Commercially astute, numerate, risk averse & able to accurately forecast cost & sales.
• Have good practical organization skills, planning of resources and program scheduling.
• Be able to provide both summarized and detailed reports.
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Construction Costing Software.
• Demonstrable experience in construction contracts.
• Renewable energy experience or electrical projects experience preferable.

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in roads, earthworks, crushing & screening, and demolition projects.
• Proficient user of CCS (Candy) for cost estimation and reporting.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., GCC, FIDIC, JBCC, etc.).
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed

• Prepare, submit, and manage tenders and contract documentation.
• Conduct accurate take-offs, measurements, and BOQs.

• Generate cost/value reconciliation reports using CCS (Candy).
• Have the ability to implement procedures to quantify and cost.

• BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying
• Professional Registration (PrQS) - (No Candidate QS will be considered)
• 610 years relevant experience
• Proficiency in WinQS, DimensionX, MS Word, and MS Excel

Grade 12 with 3 - 5 years minimum working experience

Qualification in Quantity Surveying

Computer literate (CCS or Buildsmart, WinQS or DimX, MS Excel &Outlook)

The ability to read building plans

Confidently work on B.O.Q.

Understanding of company functions and infrastructure

Well-developed English language skills (speak, read and write)

• Administer FIDIC, NEC, or JBCC contracts (depending on project).

• Handle variation orders, claims, and disputes.
