Sinds september 2025 zijn wij als Universitair Public Health Opleidingsinstituut (UPHO) gestart met het aanbieden van de opleiding tot arts maatschappij en gezondheid. UPHO is een samenwerking tussen het Amsterdam UMC en het UMC Utrecht. Voor de opleiding tot arts maatschappij en gezondheid, waarin verschillende thema's in de publieke gezondheidszorg aanbod komen, zoeken wij een onderwijsontwikkelaar die samen met de eindverantwoordelijk instituutsopleider het curriculum vertaalt naar inspirerend, innovatief en wetenschappelijk onderbouwd onderwijs.
Jouw werkzaamheden
- Ontwikkelen en vormgeven van onderwijs in lijn met het opleidingsplan;
- Bijdragen aan de uitvoering van onderwijs binnen UPHO;
- Meedenken en meewerken aan UPHO-brede ontwikkel- en onderwijstaken;
- Toepassen van vernieuwende didactische werkvormen en digitale leermiddelen;
- Samenwerken met docenten, opleiders en professionals binnen het veld.

Het Julius Centrum is één van de 12 divisies van het UMC Utrecht, met circa 600 medewerkers in onderzoek, onderwijs en ondersteuning. Binnen de afdeling
Global Public Health & Bioethics
werkt het Public Health-team aan het bevorderen van volksgezondheid en gelijke kansen op gezondheid, via onderwijs, onderzoek en opleiding.

The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in and support the primary goals and objectives of the Faculty and the Department in pursuit of this vision and strategic objective.
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the various sub-disciplines and modules that constitute Public Law (Criminal Law, Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Interpretation Theory and Environmental Law).
- Supervise postgraduate students, in their dissertations and theses.
- Conduct and publish research in local, international, accredited journals, book chapters, books and monographs in the field of Public Law.
- Take on administrative and committee roles within the Faculty Law and Department of Public Law, the broader University of Johannesburg (UJ) when called upon.
- Play a role of mentor to emerging staff in the Faculty of Law and the Department of Public Law.
- Attract and sustain fundraising initiatives and strategies to advance teaching and research scholarship.
- Participate in community engagement initiatives to advance societal engagement and impact.
Minimum requirements
- A doctoral degree in Public Law (Criminal Law, Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Interpretation Theory and Environmental Law).
- At least 5 or more years' lecturing experience in the discipline of Public Law.
- Strong publication track record in reputable and accredited journals, book chapters and books.
- Strong commitment to research-led teaching, research and innovation.
- Sound communication skills in English.
- Evidence and experience in Postgraduate supervision, including at the doctoral level and having supervised postgraduate students to completion.
- An NRF Rating will serve as an advantage and a recommendation. Especially at the level of Professor.
- Evidence of developing external research grant applications and success. Especially at the level of Professor.
- Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Excellent teaching skills and good interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Experience in the integration of ICT in teaching and learning, as well as electronic assessment techniques, e.g., Blackboard and Moodle.
- Capacity to administer large undergraduate modules.
- Ability to work well and collegially with others and within established processes.
- Punctuality.
- Knowledge of various subfields of Public Law.
- Innovative, proactive, and creative.
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment and independently (and where necessary in a team).
- Great writing and presentation skills.
- High level of integrity and ethical foundation.
