A position has become available for a Lead - Project Management Office to join our dynamic team.
The Lead: PMO role is responsible for the delivery and oversight of a project management service through the allocation of contracted project management resources. The Lead PMO will develop project management practice methods and facilitate the training and implementation of a robust, standardized project management capability within the SPAR Organisation. This role involves managing the administration and adoption of PMO systems and tools all while managing the PMO budget.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Leads the Project Management Office (PMO).
- Builds and manages the budget for PMO services.
- Reports on a portfolio of projects and initiatives including status reporting on project milestones, deliverables, and risks for all projects within the PMO.
- Procures adequate PM resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes, and manages timesheets and costs against budgets.
- Establish and maintain project governance frameworks, processes, and standards to ensure consistent and effective project delivery.
- Develops Project Management processes, policies and standards.
- Identifies and implements ‘fit for purpose’ Project Management Tools/Systems.
- Develops and delivers proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
- Develops a training strategy and implementation roadmap for PMO practices.
- Develops training material to support training of all PM processes, policies and procedures.
- Trains and provides coaching of project management processes, methods and tools for the PMO and SPAR Organisation.
- Monitors the adoption of project management practices & identifies opportunities to accelerate/improve adoption.
- Provides expertise on PMO methodology as well as industry best practices.
- Manages and guides a virtual PMO resource ensuring the PMO meets performance targets.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business/Commerce or Computer Science.
- PgMP/PMP/PMI-RMP/CAPM and Project Management related certification.
- A minimum of 8 years Project Management experience.
- At least 4 years in a mature PMO environment.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a multiple project management role.
- A strong track record of successful delivery in PMO roles within an IT and Business Change environment.
- Several years direct, first-hand experience managing projects at a level to be confident instructing and guiding project managers; advising on project planning, financial and resource estimation, tracking and controlling schedules, communication, governance, and reporting.
- Experience in an Agile/SAFe environment is preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to manage a PMO and deploy professional PM resources as needed.
- Demonstrated capability in project/program/portfolio financial management.

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the PMO department to enable the successful delivery of capital projects that support long-term business objectives of the South African Bank Note (RF) Pty Ltd. (SABN).
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive PMO strategy and operating model that enhances organisational project delivery capability and maturity.
- Develop and improve fit-for-purpose project and programme management frameworks, methodologies, tools, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with international best practices and support organisational needs.
- Establish, maintain and enforce project governance structures for transparency, accountability, and alignment with SABN objectives.
- Lead integrated project planning across Production, Facilities and Maintenance departments to optimise asset availability and operational performance.
- Define, standardise and ensure consistent application of project lifecycle management processes.
- Lead and manage tender documentation development in compliance with Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) procurement standards.
- Oversee and supervise contract administration in line with industry accepted contract models including International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), New Engineering Contract (NEC), General Conditions of Contract (GCC), and Joint Building Contracts Committee (JBCC), across multiple projects and procurement packages.
- Provide contract support and liaison with the SABN Procurement and South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Legal departments during contract negotiation and execution stages of projects.
- Lead and support processes for local authority approvals, including town planning, building control, environmental impact assessments, and statutory compliance to mitigate risks and unlock project bottlenecks.
- Establish and maintain structured communication frameworks to the Executive Committee (ExCo), Project Investment Committee (PIC) and Steering Committees (SteerCo) through dashboards, providing updates to enable performance reviews.
- Overseeing resource allocation, budgeting, and forecasting for projects as well as tracking project performance against this KPI.
- Implement and align risk management strategies with the SABN’s enterprise risk framework.
- Ensure that the PMO is properly resourced and staffed for scalable project delivery.
- Lead and motivate a team, mentor staff, provide guidance, and manage performance.
- Lead recruitment, development, and performance management efforts to foster a high-performance culture.
- Promote innovation, professionalism, and disciplined operations in project execution.
- Drive continuous improvement of PMO systems, tools, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure all projects comply with safety, health and environmental (SHE) requirements and related by-laws and regulatory statutes.
The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:
- BSc in Engineering/ B.Eng. or relevant engineering degree from a recognised university.
- Postgraduate studies in Engineering, Project or Business Management will be an added advantage.
- At least 10 years of engineering and project management experience, with a solid with a proven track record in managing medium to large scale capital manufacturing and infrastructure projects.
- Proven knowledge of CIDB procurement processes and practical experience in administering contracts such as FIDIC, NEC, JBCC, and GCC across infrastructure or capital projects. Experience in a manufacturing or high-security industrial environment is desirable.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of Applied knowledge of various project management methodologies and best practices including Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and project lifecycle methodologies.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Founded in November 2012, the SAP Digital Skills Center (Formerly TDI) strives to support in the creation of sustainable work possibilities by boosting the business system knowledge and entrepreneurial mindset of students, young graduates, and the experienced workforce in the region. By offering a host of programs tailored to bring SAP business skills to those who have a cultural and social understanding of a local region, the SAP DSC’s initiatives help talented minds not only to find jobs but also to establish their own companies by nurturing their entrepreneurial mindset. Furthermore, SAP DSC serves as Think Tank for knowledge exchange, co-creation and co-innovation. Operating in a fast-paced “start-up” environment, The SAP DSC requires employees with hands-on and multi-tasking mentality.
As one of the DSC’s successful programs, SAP’s Dual Study Program combines and alternates theory (Academia & SAP) and practice (SAP Workplace Experience) into a 1-2 year program run by universities in cooperation with SAP. Over the course of the program, students will gain a combination of SAP solution skills and certifications, paired with soft skill trainings and practical experience through internships.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
This position will support the program management activities for theSAPDigital Skills Center. As individual contributor, the Program Manager will support the Head of Digital Skills Center and take over well-defined activities to help manage the program campaigns and events.
The role will be limited for a duration of 12 months; with an option to extend thereafter.
As Program Manager for theSAPDigital Skills Center, major responsibilities will include:
- Supporting daily operations of Program Managers independently
- Engage with current YPP’s – assist them with any issues or problems
- Collaborating with internal teams, partner universities, and external stakeholders to ensure program alignment and success.
- Manage any relevant documentation and post-program CVs of graduates
- Developing and implementing comprehensive training plans, including curriculum design, resource allocation, and scheduling.
- Assist Program Managers in administration tasks – recording of statistics, demand and placement
- P ost-program follow-ups and regular LinkedIn checks of YPPs to monitor placement numbers and locations
- Promote program advertisement s and success stories through social media
- Support in creating and initiating recruitment adverts on job portals, university campuses etc.

- Executes standard and non-standard (less complex) tasks alone
- Acquires deeper knowledge about processes, executes professionally and uses his/her initiative in situations
- Ensures successful execution of the internal processes
- Takes over additional tasks (e.g. smaller projects, project management)
- Seeks proactive feedback/works proactively to identify opportunities for improvement
- Very good organizational skills and an ability to keep track of tasks, responsibilities and deadlines
Education And Qualifications / Skills And Competencies
- Bachelor degree in a Business/Management Related Field
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Fluent in English .
- Strong project management skills, detail oriented; must be highly organized with the ability to manage towards multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Able to build strong relationships, is results driven and self-motivated
