The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced
Vice President of Project Execution
to lead the delivery of large-scale solar projects in South Africa. Based in Cape Town, this senior leadership role will oversee the full execution lifecycle, from construction through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project execution strategy for utility-scale solar projects.
- Oversee EPC contractors and ensure compliance with technical, commercial, and safety standards.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and risk mitigation.
- Build and mentor a high-performing project delivery team.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, investors, and external partners to ensure alignment and smooth delivery.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental standards across all projects.
About You
- Proven track record delivering large-scale renewable energy or infrastructure projects in Africa (solar experience strongly preferred).
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, particularly with EPC and O&M agreements.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- Relevant degree in Engineering, Project Management, or similar.
Location
: Cape Town, South Africa (with regional travel as required).

Mventech is looking for a highly motivated
Safety Lead (Superintendent) – Underground Execution Projects
to join our team, supporting the execution of an EPCM Project . The site-based Safety Superintendent is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety strategies and systems for the safe execution of a mining project. The incumbent will provide leadership and expertise to ensure a culture of proactive risk management and legal compliance across the full surface and underground activities of the project.

Degree of Responsibility: Senior
Minimum Requirements:
•
Diploma/Degree in Safety Management or Equivalent Technical Qualification with proven history of having carried legal appointments as required by the Mine Health and Safety Act of South Africa.
•
SAMTRAC and COMSOC 1 & 2 or equivalent.
•
Valid driver's license and medically fit for underground work.
Preferred / Advantageous
•
First Aid Level 1 or higher
•
Underground metalliferous blasting certificate
•
Competent A and B
•
Valid driver's license and medically fit for underground work.
•
SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions) registration as a Health and Safety Officer / Manager
•
Saiosh (South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health)
•
NEBOSH, ISO 14001 / 9001 Certification.
Experience
• 10+ years in the mining industry, with at least 3–5 years in underground mining safety leadership or equivalent statutory underground legal appointments (e.g. Mine Overseer/Foreman/Engineer/Mine Manager)
• Strong exposure to project execution environments, including contractor management and capital projects.
• Experience interacting with DMRE, conducting audits, and closing regulatory findings.

Responsibilities:
1.
Safety Culture Leadership
•
Work with the Project Manager to lead a strong culture of care and safety, with zero tolerance for harm to people or the environment.
•
Be physically present and actively involved in preventing or reducing risk, especially during key construction and mining milestones. Pay special attention to major changes that need strong leadership and direct oversight.
•
This is especially important when the team is doing a high-risk task for the first time.
•
Personally meet and speak with every new person joining the site team. Help them understand their right to stop work if they believe something is unsafe or if they are asked to do a task they are not trained or experienced to do safely.
2.
Safety System Leadership
•
Design, implement and improve a pro-active, LEADING INDICATOR Safety, Health and Environmental system for the Project in support of the Mine Site and Mventech's Safety System.
•
This includes, but not limited to ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 systems at the Project Site.
•
Conduct system audits and track compliance to performance.
3. Project Safety Governance
•
Lead safety and risk assessment planning in line with the Project Schedule with particular focus on key milestone events.
•
Lead Contractor Safety Management, with particular focus on regular audits and site inspections to ensure compliance to procedures and standards.
•
Ensure all Site Project people, inclusive of Contractor and Sub-Contractors are medically fit with the required training and competency certificates.
•
Implement and maintain a system to continuously monitor site safety files and ensure compliance during each project phase.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Legal Obligations
•
Familiarise and ensure full compliance with the applicable sections and regulations of the Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and applicable ISO standards and statutory requirements that change from time to time in various jurisdictions.
•
Participate and support the Project Manager during any inspections carried out by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE). Ensure pro-active systems are in place at all times to prevent any Section 54's to be issued for any work carried out or any condition left unattended to by the Project Team. This includes of Project Site areas underground and on surface.
•
Maintain a clear understanding of DMRE expectations and prepare sites for audits, inspections and instructions.
5. Risk & Incident Management
•
Lead incident investigations using the appropriate method (e.g. Incident Cause Analysis Method – ICAM).
•
Guide the team to identify the root cause of any high-potential incident and ensure the right corrective actions are taken to prevent it from happening again.
•
Set up a system to regularly review past incidents and check that the corrective actions are still in place and effective.
•
Stay in close contact with the Mine's Safety Team to learn about any high-potential incidents that could affect the Project Team, and take aligned steps to reduce similar risks on site
6. Underground-Specific Safety Oversight
•
Conduct a minimum of 6 x underground inspections over a period of 14 days. This means in practice, 3 visits a week, but with an understanding that less than 3 visits may take place during some weeks.
•
All project areas where teams of people are working must be visited over the period of 14 calendar days.
•
This means that all project areas are visited in person at least twice a calendar month.
7. Contractor & Stakeholder Management
Manage contractor SHE files and enforce prequalification standards.
Facilitate alignment with internal safety systems and legal obligations.
Liaise with project managers, engineers, SHE teams, and DMRE inspectors.
8. Coaching, Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the safety team across all underground execution sites.
Foster a culture of visible leadership, accountability, and hazard reporting.
