Job Description

The Production Planning Manager / 2IC has the overall responsibility for the planning of samples through the processes and client communication of the laboratory at the Orkney site. Through continuous improvement and optimize the utilization of the laboratory's throughput according to client's requirements. Ensure that the overall production for the Geochem facility under his / her control is achieved.

  • Plan and prioritize a production schedule for the jobs/projects in according with lab capability and client requirements.
  • Implement and control the production schedule.
  • Review and adjust the schedule where needed.
  • Where possible, do forecasting and planning for upcoming projects or changes in scope for existing projects. Communicate these finding to senior management team.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, human resources and management.
  • In conjunction with Section Manager and/or Laboratory Manager:

  • Formulate changes, improve workflow and maximum utilization of resources in the departments.

  • Monitor effective utilization and supervision of human resources within the department/s, including training, recruitment and discipline.
  • Assist with decisions making about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement to ensure production targets can be met.
  • Direct communication with clients daily on:

  • Status updates on new and existing projects.

  • Re-negotiating timelines or schedules as necessary.

  • Prepare and maintain production reports

  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement on production targets
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or at least 10 years' experience in an Analytical Lab.
  • Minimum of 5 years' solid management experience,
  • Qualification in Business improvement initiatives will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a commercial laboratory environment.
  • Familiar with SGS analytical practices
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in customer relationship management
  • Strong knowledge of SLIM
  • Previous experience in production planning will be an added advantage.

You will report to the Order Fulfilment Manager:
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring the TDT hub and 3PL performance by performing daily inspections
  • Referring operational issues and/or problems in a timeous and effective manner to the relevant stakeholders for resolution
  • Recommending changes to management and compliance management in order to improve procedures so that customer expectations are managed or exceeded
  • Being point of contact for Customer Service, TDT delivery hubs and 3PL's, ensuring query resolution
  • Report generation, so that hubs, the hubs' franchisees and couriers are aware of their current performance
  • Data capturing into the respective systems to ensure business and customers are up to date with deliveries
  • Quality control of data
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Competencies/Skills

  • Ability to read and write in English and interpret written instructions
  • Confidence in sharing information and providing feedback
  • Solid communication
  • Good working knowledge of internet browsers, MS Excel (advanced) and MS Outlook
  • Basic math skills and sound mathematical reasoning
  • Must have an organised approach to task completion and great attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems by analysing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job
  • Able to communicate with all levels of management
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively complete work records with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret data and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required

We are looking for a Logistics and Supply Chain Manager.

This is relative high-level job and carries quite some serious responsibility here at PABT.

Job Description

  • Reporting to Head of Operations and Head of Engineering.
  • Responsible for following departments, each department has a hierarchy with different levels of employees, eg manager, supervisors and staff.

  • Stores and warehousing department - Two large warehouses with a stockholding of R200 mil + with active part numbers.

  • Logistics department - a fleet of 10 trucks with drivers, forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Procurement department – Divided in local procurement and international procurement. We spend a significant amount of international procurement; this person must be up to speed with regulations and processes and be able to manage large in international shipping companies.

  • Managing the complete supply chain – from Sales order, to procurement, stores, delivery and then invoicing.

  • Forecasting and maintaining stock levels in a complex supply and demand environment.

KPA's

  • Stock level accuracy
  • Delivery time (From Sales Order to Invoicing). This pertains to the following steps:

  • Procurement evaluating Sales order for Shortages and the sourcing shortages

  • Stores picking parts to build product and supply as spares.
  • Communication between stores, procurement and production on ETA for shortages (note – we source local and international)
  • Delivery and invoicing of product
  • Procurement spend and maintaining gross profit margins

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of Syspro
  • Expert in Excell
  • High level knowledge of imports and exports processes and regulations
  • Expert knowledge in supply chain for a manufacturing company
  • Proven track record of managing large teams
  • Must be a self starter, able to take on challenges with minimal intervention of top management

Additional Requirement:

  • This candidate must have a proven track record in which he/she has successfully implemented solutions in complex problematic supply chains.
  • This candidate to have proven track record of creating and implementing solutions to problematic and defective processes in warehouses which resulted in stock issues.
