Role Overview
We seek an experienced Production & Quality Control Supervisor to oversee operations at our soap bar manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all products meet internal and external quality standards while optimizing production processes.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Quality Assurance: Lead production staff to meet quality and efficiency targets. Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and maintain high standards. Investigate and address customer complaints.
Team Leadership & Training: Supervise, train, and mentor staff. Conduct root cause analyses for defects and implement corrective measures.
Qualifications & Experience

Requirements
Process Analysis and Assessment- Conduct analyses of current business processes in IPP operations, asset management, and solar plant construction to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Map and document processes using flowcharts, process mapping software, and other relevant tools.
- Identify and implement process improvements aligned with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 55000 (Asset Management), and best practices in renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
- Develop and implement Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen-based improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Standardise asset management, procurement, and maintenance processes to optimise performance across the organisation.
- Ensure that improvements align with NERSA, Eskom Grid Code, SANS, and other industry regulations.
- Collect and analyse operational data to track efficiency, identify trends, and validate improvements.
- Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to solar plant efficiency, downtime reduction, asset performance, and maintenance schedules.

- Ensure all process improvement initiatives align with the organisation’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Participate in internal and external audits and work closely with the compliance and risk management teams to address process gaps.
- Support risk assessments for process inefficiencies, compliance failures, and operational vulnerabilities.
- Work closely with internal business unit teams to implement and sustain improvements.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new processes.
- Engage with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to drive supply chain and vendor quality improvements.
- Support the implementation and optimisation of digital tools, including ERP systems, SharePoint, Basecamp, SCADA, and CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
- Identify opportunities for automation and digitisation of processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Ensure alignment between process improvements and the organisation’s IT and data strategy.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Education- Undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Quality Management, Operations Management, or a related field that provides a strong foundation in process analysis, quality principles, and improvement methodologies.
- 5-7 years of demonstrable work experience in process improvement, quality management, or operational efficiency roles, preferably in the renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven experience in applying Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other process improvement methodologies to achieve measurable business results. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is advantageous.

- Ensure that production work instructions eg. Production Process Flow charts, Setting Sheets, Inspection Instructions, Job Cards, Packaging and Transport details are adequate and complied with.
- Maintain good housekeeping throughout.
- Conduct periodic formal reviews (at least annually) to verify that production activities are performed in accordance with the applicable procedures and work instructions.
- Review customer releases and formulate production plans when necessary.
- Identify process, tooling, equipment improvements, etc.
- Identify the training needs of personnel under supervision.
- Conduct / implement training when required.
- To assist Stores Controller when necessary (e.g. material staging, month end/annual stocktaking, etc.).
- Have full control when General Manager is not available.
- Collating and analysing performance data and charts against defined parameters.
- Ensuring tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications comply with requirements.
- Assistance in cross functional audits in line with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015 and the internal audit plan.
- Assisting, wherever possible, to ensure that all actions, functions, and processes in the business are conducted in a value-added manner.
- Review all non-conforming products together with the quality department and ensure that effective correction action is taken to prevent recurrence.
- Bringing together staff of different disciplines and driving the group to plan, formulate and agree comprehensive quality procedures.
- Persuading reluctant staff to change their way of working to incorporate quality methods.
- Ensure that the agreed KPI’s are maintained and achieved for yourself and your subordinates.
- Monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports where required.
- Complying, in line with the Management Policy Document, departmental procedures and practices.
- To comply with any other work-related instruction which is relayed via a superior and which is deemed to be necessary and reasonable.
