Verantwoordelijkheden

  • Beheer van de timeline qua deadlines en planning van alle projecten en events.

  • Afstemmen met alle subteams en zorgen dat elk subteam actiepunten uitvoert binnen de vooropgestelde deadline.

  • Functie als link tussen departementen zoals Communicatie en Development om interne processen te stroomlijnen.

  • Ondersteunen van de Head of Operations met administratieve taken, PO-opvolging en teamgerelateerde taken.

  • Het overzicht bewaren over alle projecten en events.

  • Administratief sterk zijn, processen kritisch bekijken en verbeteren waar nodig.

  • Projectvergaderingen vertalen naar duidelijke to do’s voor het team.

  • Logisch kunnen denken, nauwkeurig werken en de link naar andere departementen leggen waar nodig.

Organization context - The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is leading the implementation of a project entitled “Scaling up Ecosystem-based Approaches to managing climate-intensified disaster risks in vulnerable regions of South Africa” (the Eco-DRR project). The USD 40.1 million project is funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), with cofinancing from SANBI, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), for a period of 8 years from 2025 to 2033. The goal is to improve the resilience of communities that are vulnerable to climate change-exacerbated floods, droughts and wildfires through Ecosystem-based Adaptation and Eco-Disaster Risk Reduction measures. SANBI is looking for a self-motivated individual to provide support to all aspects of Eco-DRR project coordination, with emphasis on ensuring compliance with donor reporting requirements including monitoring and evaluation, relationship management, and project governance and oversight structures.

Note - This position requires a degree in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Management or equivalent qualification with NQF 7. A postgraduate qualification with NQF 8 will be an added advantage. Candidates should have relevant work experience as described below.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Management or equivalent qualification (NQF 7). A postgraduate qualification in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Management or equivalent (NQF 8) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 6 years of work experience in the relevant field, with at least 3 years at supervisory level.
  • Competencies include: project management and grant management skills; interest in Climate Change Adaptation and environmental/developmental issues; reliability and flexibility; familiarity with South African regulatory environment for Environmental and Social Safeguards policy implementation; extensive knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks; understanding of public sector policies (HRM, SCM, ITM and Corporate Governance); strong organizational skills; problem-solving and multi-stakeholder coordination abilities; stakeholder engagement and relationships management; budgeting and financial reporting attention to detail; ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects; monitoring and evaluation capability for multi-project portfolios; capability to work under pressure with diverse teams; knowledge of donor funding, stakeholder management, and related procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; high computer literacy (MS Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet, Outlook); valid driver’s license with at least one year of driving experience and willingness to travel.

  • Direct and motivate project teams across GroupTech to ensure the successful delivery of project scope within established time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Regularly update project plans to reflect evolving project requirements and timelines.
  • Escalate issues to project sponsors, technical leads, and other relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Update, submit, and manage change registers and change controls to track modifications to the project scope.
  • Manage overall project scope, schedules, deliverables, communications, and risks while ensuring compliance with quality standards and adherence to relevant methodologies and templates (governance).
  • Monitor key interdependencies and complexities, communicating them effectively across the business.
  • Oversee the registration, administration, and execution of projects in alignment with company objectives.
  • Provide comprehensive project documentation for all projects, ensuring transparency and accessibility of information.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the Project Management Methodology, project standards, and business strategy, meeting the specified business requirements.
  • Provide necessary support to the Programme Manager, Senior Managers and Head of PMO as required.
  • Manage key interdependencies and complexities (cross functional teams across organization) closely and ensure these are communicated and understood across Business and Group Tech
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent NQF Level 7 Qualification in Business / Project Management / Engineering
  • Project Management certification (PMP / Prince2 / Agile or similar) - Advantageous
Experience
  • A minimum of 5+ of relevant work experience
  • Senior Project Management
  • Proven track record in delivering complex cross-functional projects
  • Proven track record in delivering OTT projects

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Single point accountable person to deliver on agreed project objectives.
  • To realise the business intent of a project by leading, managing, facilitating and coordinating multi-disciplinary resources across the four tracks of the BD&I from pre-feasibility (gate 2) through feasibility, basic development, execution and start-up to close-out and evaluation (gate 7).
  • Ensure overall project compliance to execution plan (SHE, Quality, Cost and Schedule).
  • Ensure overall project compliance to legal and corporate governance and procedures.
  • Develop and implementation of project execution strategies and plans.
  • Management of internal and external stakeholders / supplier relationships and contracts; Manage different contracting strategies, i.e. LSTK, EPC, EPCM, etc.
  • Develop estimates and ensure cost control.
  • Ensure integrated risk management is effectively done. Ensure comprehensive change management is done. Ensure complete and up to date project administration and reporting.
  • Manage SHERQ requirements on projects.
  • Manage project within the BD&I, PMBOK, NEC3, boundaries.
  • Understand the total value chain of the business on projects.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience required

Qualifications : BSc (Engineering) or B Eng / B Tech

Min Experience : 12 Years relevant experienced

Certification and Professional Membership : Post Graduate (e.g. Masters in Project Management) qualification will be advantageous
