The Litho-Offset Press Operator is an essential member of the team, responsible for the manufacturing of printed labels while continuously monitoring label quality and press conditions.
The Role
In this exciting and varied role, you will:
- The Printing press operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our Litho-Offset press.
- Our Printing Press Operators must adhere to all plant and corporate safety rules, procedures, and guidelines.
- Reports all safety concerns or issues to their immediate supervisor.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and area by completing daily housekeeping assignments.
- Does Make-ready in accordance with the Job Ticket and Product Specification documents to ensure correct print cylinders, inks, substrates, tooling, and anilox rollers are used.
- Complete all required quality checks related to product specifications, visual, and functional checks. Completes all press-side quality checks.
- Produce product in accordance with customer specifications while maintaining quality, waste, and press efficiency.
- Monitors consistent quality during the production run. Critical quality checks includes copy, colour, registration, and ink adhesion. Ensure conformance to all other quality checks.
- Responsible for completing all related procedures, work instructions, and quality measurements as outlined in the BRC standard.
- Completes press changeovers in an efficient manner.
- Completes all required equipment maintenance duties.
- Cleans plate, cylinder, and ink pans, and lubricates press as needed.
- Inputs all required information into the DCU system for material usage and time in an accurate and prompt manner.
- Responsible for setting up, utilizing, and maintaining 100% label inspection system

- Factory floor supervisor is aware of low supplies and that an order has been placed to replenish stock
- Raw materials / finished good are stored in the correct manner as prescribed by Azapak
- If all raw material has been utilised, request more from the warehouse controller / supervisor – reasons must be provided why raw materials were used inefficiently
Health & Safety
- Aware of Occupational health and safety Act and regulations and Azapak's policies and procedures
- Knowledgeable about potential or actual health and safety hazards in the workplace
- Provide information to team members to protect the health and safety of the employee
- Utilise the correct equipment, material and protective devices required by regulation when operating machinery / fulfilling their duties
