We are looking for a skilled and motivated Platform Engineer to join our engineering team. As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability, performance, and scalability of our production systems. You will work closely with our development and operations teams to ensure our systems are resilient, efficient, and secure.

Key Responsibilities:

System Reliability and Performance:

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve reliability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventative measures.

Automation and Tooling:

  • Develop and maintain automation tools to streamline operations and reduce manual interventions.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform (OpenTofu), Terragrunt.
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and management of production systems.

Incident Management and Response:

  • Lead the response to production incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimising impact.
  • Establish and maintain robust incident response procedures and playbooks.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and ensure findings are documented and addressed.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure new services and features are designed with reliability in mind.
  • Advocate for best practices in reliability and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in system architecture and operations.

Monitoring and Alerting:

  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to detect and respond to issues proactively.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to provide visibility into system health and performance.
  • Continuously improve monitoring and alerting strategies to reduce noise and enhance signal-to-noise ratio.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure systems and processes adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct regular security reviews and audits of infrastructure and applications.
  • Implement measures to protect against security threats and vulnerabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer or DevOps Engineer.
  • Strong experience and proficiency in Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS as well containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g. GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and system administration.
  • Strong working experience and knowledge of IaC - Terraform/Terragrunt or Pulumi.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to incident management.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

What does this role involve?

As a Platform/DevOps Engineer , you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Kandua’s cloud infrastructure. You will drive security improvements, CI/CD automation, and cloud operations to create a scalable and efficient environment for our engineering team. Your work will ensure that our software development processes are fast, smooth, and secure.


Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .
  • Security & Compliance: Enhance system security, implement best practices for infrastructure security, and ensure compliance with industry standards. As we explore new opportunities in the FinTech territory, we aim to improve and be the best in security and compliance to support this expansion.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Define, implement, and scale CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) across the organization to streamline deployments and ensure reliable releases. We currently use GitHub Actions but need to improve its implementation and scalability within the company.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design and define our future infrastructure strategy by evaluating the best tools for automation and management. We are currently exploring options such as Terraform, Pulumi, and others to determine the best fit for our needs.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management: Implement and optimize observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver, Datadog) to ensure system health, logging, and alerting. You will participate in an on-call rotation to quickly address critical infrastructure and application incidents, minimizing downtime and ensuring rapid resolution.
  • Performance & Reliability: Optimize application and infrastructure performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with development teams to understand their needs, gather feedback, and continuously improve the platform to enhance developer productivity. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and provide guidance on best practices for cloud infrastructure and automation.
  • Tooling & Automation: Identify bottlenecks in development workflows and implement automation to make development and deployment smoother.
  • Disaster Recovery & Backup: Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • FinOps & Cost Optimization: Continuously monitor cloud spending and implement cost-saving strategies. Optimize resource allocation, right-size instances, and leverage committed use discounts to ensure efficiency without compromising performance.

What We're Looking For
  • 6+ years of experience in a DevOps, Platform, or Cloud Engineering role.
  • Strong experience with the public cloud.
  • Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines .
  • Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration.
  • Experience with security best practices, IAM policies, and vulnerability management.
  • Strong scripting skills.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog .
  • Understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing, and security best practices.
  • Experience with incident response and troubleshooting production issues .
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have-skills

Beneficial Experience Experience in Agile / Scrum methodologies. An understanding of AWS/Cloud services and best practices, e.g. the AWS Well-Architected Framework. Tooling / Stack Kubernetes & Containerisation: Using Kubernetes, Istio, Argo CD, Helm & CI/CD to build & deploy & manage containerised workloads. Cloud Infrastructure: An intermediate understanding of AWS/Cloud services and best practices, e.g. the AWS Well-Architected Framework Infrastructure as Code (AWS & Terraform): Experience using the AWS CDK & Terraform to write and manage infrastructure. As a Platform/Dev Ops Engineer , you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Kandua’s cloud infrastructure. You will drive security improvements, CI/CD automation, and cloud operations to create a scalable and efficient environment for our engineering team. Your work will ensure that our software development processes are fast, smooth, and secure. Key Responsibilities Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) . Security & Compliance: Enhance system security, implement best practices for infrastructure security, and ensure compliance with industry standards. As we explore new opportunities in the Fin Tech territory, we aim to improve and be the best in security and compliance to support this expansion. CI/CD & Automation: Define, implement, and scale CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) across the organization to streamline deployments and ensure reliable releases. We currently use Git Hub Actions but need to improve its implementation and scalability within the company. Infrastructure as Code (Ia C): Design and define our future infrastructure strategy by evaluating the best tools for automation and management. We are currently exploring options such as Terraform, Pulumi, and others to determine the best fit for our needs. Monitoring & Incident Management: Implement and optimize observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver, Datadog) to ensure system health, logging, and alerting. You will participate in an on-call rotation to quickly address critical infrastructure and application incidents, minimizing downtime and ensuring rapid resolution. Performance & Reliability: Optimize application and infrastructure performance to ensure high availability and reliability. Collaboration & Support: Work closely with development teams to understand their needs, gather feedback, and continuously improve the platform to enhance developer productivity. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and provide guidance on best practices for cloud infrastructure and automation. Tooling & Automation: Identify bottlenecks in development workflows and implement automation to make development and deployment smoother. Disaster Recovery & Backup: Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies. Fin Ops & Cost Optimization: Continuously monitor cloud spending and implement cost-saving strategies. Optimize resource allocation, right-size instances, and leverage committed use discounts to ensure efficiency without compromising performance. What We're Looking For 6+ years of experience in a Dev Ops, Platform, or Cloud Engineering role. Strong experience with the public cloud. Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines . Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration. Experience with security best practices, IAM policies, and vulnerability management. Strong scripting skills. Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog . Understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing, and security best practices. Experience with incident response and troubleshooting production issues . Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Nice-to-have-skills Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Proficiency with a Ia C platform such as Pulumi or Terraform. Key Responsibilities: System Reliability and Performance: Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure. Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve reliability. Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventative measures. Automation and Tooling: Develop and maintain automation tools to streamline operations and reduce manual interventions. Implement Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) practices using tools like Terraform (Open Tofu), Terragrunt. Automate deployment, scaling, and management of production systems. Incident Management and Response: Lead the response to production incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimising impact. Establish and maintain robust incident response procedures and playbooks. Conduct post-incident reviews and ensure findings are documented and addressed. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with development teams to ensure new services and features are designed with reliability in mind. Advocate for best practices in reliability and operational excellence. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in system architecture and operations. Monitoring and Alerting: Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to detect and respond to issues proactively. Develop dashboards and reports to provide visibility into system health and performance. Continuously improve monitoring and alerting strategies to reduce noise and enhance signal-to-noise ratio. Security and Compliance: Ensure systems and processes adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements. Conduct regular security reviews and audits of infrastructure and applications. Implement measures to protect against security threats and vulnerabilities. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer or Dev Ops Engineer. Strong experience and proficiency in Unix/Linux operating systems. Strong knowledge of AWS as well containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash). Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g. Git Hub Actions, Argo CD). Solid understanding of networking, security, and system administration. Strong working experience and knowledge of Ia C - Terraform/Terragrunt or Pulumi. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to incident management. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
