Our client, in the logistics sector is seeking an Ammonia Plant Technician, to join their team.

The role of the Ammonia Plant Technician is to perform preventative maintenance tasks on building and machinery to prevent potential down time and loss of production

Location: Bayhead – Durban

Job type: Permanent - On-site

Duties and Responsibilities

• Daily Ammonia refrigeration plant inspection-plantroom, condensers and valve stations
• Assist experienced technician on daily tasks
• Perform preventative tasks when job cards are issued in accordance with time allocations
• Daily rack inspections to prevent potential problems
• Daily documentation before any task given to assistants or contractors
• Operate lifting machinery when required
• Monthly documentation on HSE equipment
• Daily checks on temperature setting of different markets
• Ensure all PPECB protocols are adhered too
• Ensure cold chain protocols are adhered to for energy saving

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or higher
• Ammonia refrigeration Category A certificate
• Minimum 4 years maintenance experience on electrical and mechanical
• Minimum 2 years work experience in an ammonia refrigeration environment

Overview: 

Our client in the automotive sector is looking to employ 2 x Quality Technicians, to conduct Quality Control to achieve Quality Standards and meet customer’s expectations in their plant in Durban on a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract.

Minimum Requirements: 

• Grade 12 (Maths, Science, Technical Drawing)
• National Diploma in Quality Management or related qualification
• ISO9001, IATF16949 certifications
• 3+ Years’ working experience in a similar role

Key Performance Areas: 

1. Quality Assurance: 

• Implement Quality Procedures and Work Instructions
• Maintain the Quality Assurance system for Pant specific documentation
• Ensure compliance of Quality Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions

2. Audits: 

• Conduct Internal IATF System audits (1st Tier)
• Conduct Internal Process (VDA 6.3:2016) and Product audits
• CSR

3. Supply quality Audits:

• Specify supplier acceptable quality levels (AQL’s) (Tolerances, drawing requirements, tooling, PPM’s etc.)
• Analyse supplier performance (Product quality, special status, etc.) and make recommendations
• Notify suppliers of non-conformances and initiate corrective actions

4. Quality Control: 

• Investigate all Quality non-conformances and track corrective actions
• Compile PPM’s and defect trends and make recommendations
• Conduct Gauge R&R assessments on all measuring systems
• Verify First-Off, Last-Off and random inspections
• Determine the disposition of quarantined products (pass, reject or rework)

5. Information Management and Direction focussing:

• Collate and analyse company data and management reports

6. Advanced Product Quality Planning:

• Complete production part approval process (PPAP)
• FMEA
• Control Plan
• Process Flow
• Conduct MSA studies

7. SHE: 

• Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplace
• Address workplace hazards and risks
• Work safely and use safety equipment

• National Diploma: Information Technology: Software Development/Engineering
• Min 3-5 years working experience in Software development
  • Proficient VB.net, ASP.net
  • VBScript, HTML, MVC & Java scripts
  • Microsoft SQL Server (Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, SSRS, Analysis Model)
  • A+

• Lead daily operations across assigned production areas, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met or exceeded.
• Develop and manage high-performing teams, instilling accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement culture.
• Oversee production planning, resource allocation, and capacity management to support short- and long-term business goals.
• Drive and support Lean initiatives including Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Continuous Improvement to increase operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to identify root causes of issues and implement robust corrective actions.
• Analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) including unit hour performance, quality metrics, and budget adherence to identify trends and improvement areas.
• Facilitate communication and alignment between shifts, departments, and senior leadership to ensure smooth operational execution.
• Lead initiatives that enhance workplace safety and comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Champion change management processes and lead teams through transformational projects with resilience and engagement.
• Oversee and continuously improve plant infrastructure including facilities, equipment, utilities, layout design, and maintenance programs to ensure operational reliability and readiness.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. regulatory standards including OSHA, EPA, and local building and environmental codes.
• Lead production system improvements, including MES and ERP integration for enhanced scheduling, tracking, and operational visibility.
• Manage preparation and ramp-up for new production lines, vehicle model changes, or capacity expansions as part of ongoing plant growth.
• Coordinate with internal logistics teams to ensure effective dock-to-dock material flow and outbound shipment readiness.
• Monitor and improve advanced manufacturing KPIs such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), First Pass Yield (FPY), and On-Time Delivery (OTD).
• Support workforce planning and development initiatives to ensure the availability of skilled labour across all shifts and production units.

• Bachelors degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Management (or equivalent qualification).
• Minimum 8 years of leadership experience in manufacturing or operations in a complex production environment.
• Proven success in applying Lean Manufacturing methodologies such as Just-in-Time, Flow, Visual Management, and Total Productive Maintenance.
• Solid experience in capacity and capability planning for short- and long-term operations.
• Demonstrated financial acumen related to cost centre management and budget control.
• Strong ability to motivate, develop, and manage multidisciplinary teams in a production setting.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Fluent in English, with exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, capable of engaging confidently across technical and executive audiences.
• South African citizenship.
