Our Client is offering an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest broker groups globally as a Placement Broker, working from their Manchester office and covering other supporting offices. This role spans diverse commercial lines, working with some of the UK’s most prestigious businesses and working with some impressive colleagues.
As a Placement Broker, you will be the linchpin between clients, insurers, and internal teams. This dynamic role requires you to manage placement activities for complex and bespoke insurance arrangements, ensuring competitive terms while delivering exceptional service. You will be the trusted technical expert, offering strategic advice on placement structures and market conditions.
Your strong insurer relationships will be pivotal as you negotiate and collaborate across the Manchester and Yorkshire markets, including access to Lloyd’s. While not a regular occurrence, you may accompany senior colleagues to client meetings to provide insight into market conditions and technical expertise.
We seek a driven professional with proven experience in large commercial/corporate insurance broking or underwriting. Placement Student – Development
37 Hours Per Week
Salary: £24,242.40
About The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Placement Student to join our team and play an exciting role in the delivery of new social homes. Whilst being mentored and working alongside an experienced team, we are looking to offer a highly motivated and enthusiastic student the chance to gain experience in the social housing sector. In this rewarding role you will work closely with the Development Team to ensure quality homes are delivered on time and within budget.
This exciting opportunity will suit motivated individuals who have excellent communication and organisational skills and see a future in the delivery of new social homes.
About You
You will be currently studying a Development related degree (such as property / housing / construction project management / built environment / town planning / architecture) and be on track for at least a 2:1 result.

What will you be doing
Based in South Africa you will be working as part of the Circana UK Item Placement team. An Item Placement Analyst maintains the product dimension of the custom client databases assigned to him / close collaboration with UK Client Service and several other operational departments an Item Placement Analyst has a shared responsibility for delivering the client database on time and correct.
Job Responsibilities
- Updating the database with new items
- Sharing new item list an overview of newly placed items with the client and processing their feedback
- Updating of totals
- Validations / QCs
- Closing and finalizing databases
- Minor restatements (limited set of changes to the product structure of the database)
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintaining strong internal cross-departmentalrelationships with local and UK colleagues.
- Keeping all relevant documentation updated
- Follow the operational item placement processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Actively seeks out client product performance in the market to keeprelevant.
- Display a solid understanding of the business and our serviceofferings.
- Attends training business updates knowledge shares and team events as and whenrequired.
- Adheres to and enforces to all relevant policies andprocedures.
- Communicates issues and deadlines to the Item Coding Manager and or team leads asrequired.

Overview of Position:
The focus for this role is to work closely with Account Executives located in Willis offices across South Africa to provide effective and efficient placement service delivery to existing clients and prospects of Willis.
Role objectives:
- Ensure adherence to Group Policies and Procedures including:
- Third Party Producer requests, Sanctions approvals, New Client Checklists;
- Placing file checklists;
- Ensure Compliance with Local Procedures and External Compliance Regulations
- Maintain diary system for renewal and problem resolution information
- Produce and ensure accuracy of Renewal Information Schedules, Acceptance Slips /Policy Wordings, and Renewal Premium Comparison Schedules
- Identify appropriate markets
- Ensure that Acceptance Slips are sent to and negotiated with market
- Interact with Willis Offices for overseas placements (where applicable)
- Ensure that firm order has been received from Account Executive before finalisingplacement with the market
- Place Policies accordingly (including SASRIA where necessary)
- Capture policies on the TIAL policy management system
- Ensure that the invoices are captured correctly on TIAL or the financial system
- Ensure that the WTW or insurer-issued Policy Documents have been received, checkedand provided to the Account Executive within 30 days of inception / renewal
- Accompany Account Executive to client meetings when required
- Understand and discuss client’s requirements with the market, negotiate risks accordingly and obtain the best deal / quote, plus alternatives (risk covered and premium) from the market
- Maintainand develop market/underwriting relationships through excellent verbal and written communication with the market at all stages in the placement process
- Contribute to process improvements and effective utilisation of systems.
- Grade 12 (matric)
- 5 - 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry, preferably in a broker role
- FSB recognised post matric qualification (NQF 4 or higher)
- Regulatory Exam (RE 5)
